RBK850 Guest Network Port Forwarding

My goal is to provide my students access to a machine in my home without allowing them onto my general home network.  What I was thinking was this:

  • Isolate the machine for student use on the guest network.
  • Enable port forwarding for desired ports to that machine.

This doesn't seem to be possible (at least with my current firmware.  Due to the NAT loopback issue, I am still running V3.2.16.1_1.4.4).  While the port forwarding web page allows me to specify the 192.168.2.x network, when I Apply, it is rejected.

Does anyone have any suggestions?  I looked at VLAN in the manual, but the entire discussion revolves around bypassing NAT, which is not what I'm trying to do.

Thanks,

Michael

  • Guest Network already gets a assigned the .2.### address. Guest Network is already on the WAN side of the router thus there is no need for port forward Guest Network which isn't supported.

  • I mis-stated my question.  I'd like to give the students *remote* access to the machine in my home, while maintaining isolation of that machine from the rest of my home network.

    Thanks,
