RBK850 (just the 1 satellite) using in Router mode directly connected to my Fibre ONT

Im currently having the same issue

RBK850 (just the 1 satellite) using in Router mode directly connected to my Fibre ONT where I get Full speeds. Prior to V4.6.9.11 update it was fine. but now. every so often it will drop from full speed to 100MB or slower And will need to reboot both my Router and my ONT.

These Speeds are all when I am using Wired devices.
I saw another post where playing with the MTU settings could help (increasing them)

I have changed to another router just to rule out an issue with my Orbi and it has been stable
I do think there is an issue with V4.6.9.11 Firmware

  • Did you find if this worked? I too updated to V4.6.9.11 for my RBK850 and I will have my full speed 950MB but after a short time it dropped to anywhere from 100MB down to even 20MB

  • What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
    Turn off and unplug modem.
    Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?

How are you speed testing? Wired or wireless?

Speed testing at the RBR or RBS?

Check with your ISP to see what MTU values they require. Try using Default values on the RBR.

I am running as Router mode So directly to my Fibre ONT. I am using Vodafone NZ as my ISP.

After Upgrading to V4.6.9.11 I did not do a factory reset.

But I had never changed the MTU settings prior and I was always having good speeds.

I thought I had been replying to another post that had the same issue but it looks like it created a new post. I was looking at this one. https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi-WiFi-6-AX-and-WiFi-6E-AXE/Orbi-RBR850-sudden-slow-restricted-speed/m-p/2259604/highlight/false#M38646

For my  Speed tests all were via wired devices. and also have the speediest app in the device which some times returned an error saying could not find the speediest server

Perform a full factory reset on both router then set up from scratch. Do not load any saved backup configuration files.
