Same thing - Newest firmware broke the 850 Series. Cannot factory reset RBS.
Spent hours with Tech Support to no avail.

Honestly, you really need to stop telling people to do that. There isn't a supported way to block automatic updates, so downgrading is just a temporary solution and people will need to repeat the downgrade every few days.
There is a way to block updates. The user who posted it told me his is working still on v3. It's up to users to try it. Or not. Just an option. Everything else, you'll need to contact NG support and wait it out.
