RBK853 - How many additional satellites?
I have an RBK853 with two satellites setup and working ok. I say OK because the iOS app is unstable at times and Orbi itself loses internet connection and satellites dop - most noticable overnight w...

It's primarily to try and get more signal to the outside of my home. The Orbi AX is really bad the moment I walk out of my home. It completely dies all around my home and I need strong signals around the house for outdoor cameras. I know bout the prior Orbi as I had 4 satellites plus the outdoor RBS50Y all connected and working. I sold that system, save the RBS50Y, and need to know specifically about the Orbi AX if anybody has had success with 3 or more RBS850 satellites (don't care about hard wiring RBS50 satellites - just wireless RBS850 ones). I would also like to know if the RBS50Y will work with the RBR50?
This Orbi AX is pathetic to penetrate outside my home. Inside with 2 satellites no problem - just outside.
Thanks for the response.

The RBSY does work wirelessly with the 50 series Orbi.
Hopefully someone may post about having 3 RBS850s. I presume 3-4 may work just fine. Placement and distance from RBR will be key as well.

Not wirelessly. You can try and see if it will connect. I don't have one so I can't test it out.
I would try loading one of these on the RBSY and see what happens:
Firmware Version 2.3.5.32 (Orbi Mode for Orbi)Firmware Version 1.0.0.46 (Extender Mode for Orbi)<This could work.https://www.netgear.com/support/product/RBS50Y.aspx#download

This Orbi AX is very slow with firmware releases. FW to support older satellites (RBS50's) including the outdoor one (RBS50Y).
Aside from that, we don't even know if more than two satellites will work with an RBR850 and getting an additional RBS850 seems futile. It's already sold out on Amazon but I don't understand how such a fundamental piece of any mesh system (a satellite) can become so exclusive and impossible to buy. This is a mesh system, a very expensive one, and it lives and dies with the number of satellites that we can buy and install to expand the system based on size of the home and environment. At the moment, getting a a satellite and getting a concret answer to the number of supported satellites is a futile and elusive at best. I don't even understand Netgears approach on this and it's still kind of the same with the older RBR50/RBS50 combination.
And Netgear, fix the iOS app please so it's not so unstable and give it a more modern look, feel and response to it so it doesn't look so dated. The Web GUI is even worse. Device naming and device types, between the two app's, is also completely out of sync and device type choices are bland at best on the iOS app. We need more device types to select from please.

Hopefully installing the Extender mode FW will make it work.
Let us know.
