RBK853 measure beackhaul signal strength to position satellites
I’m wanting to place one of my satellites permanently on a wall. I’d like to measure the signal strength for the wifi backhaul to do so optimally.
However, the SSID for those is hidden and I can’t find anyway to either figure out what they are or temporarily make them visible so I can use a signal strength testing tool.
Is there anyway to do this?
The best I could come up with is to use the public 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz SSIDs as a proxy. Doing so I’ve determined there’s about a 10 point difference in RSSI and SNI depending on where I place the laptop I’m using to test.
Is that going to be a sufficient proxy? Is there a better way to work out where to position satellites?

Turns out, NetSpot happily shows me the backhaul channels.

The wifi back haul is hidden and not user configurable.
They may show in some wifi scanning apps with out any SSID name on the higher 5Ghz channels 149 thru 161.
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS📡 to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.
