I'm on the latest 4.6.9.11 firmware. I'm using a Netgear CM1100 cable modem. I have a switch between the router and the satellites - but my computer is connected directly to the router.
Thanks for the advice, I will try Cat6 cable and setting the adapter speed to 1gig rather than auto. Will report back!
Meanwhile I am shopping for a dedicated router like the Mikrotik RB5009, but unfortunately (or maybe fortunate for my wallet) they're impossible to find right now.

What is the brand and model# of this swtich between the RBR and the RBS?
Does the RBR still stop working under high load if you turn OFF the switch and the RBS with your wired PC connected to the RBR?
Please configure the 2.5Gb adapter do that it forces a 1Gb connection on the adapter, not auto detect speed.
What are you doing go cause this high load? Streaming or downloading games?

The switch I'm using is a Netgear GS316. I've had it for a few years and it has always run perfectly as far as i can tell.
I haven't tried turning off the switch (pretty much my whole house is wired through it, except for my desktop PC), but I'll give it a go.
I've tried setting the adapter to 1gb without any change.
I've seen the internet connection loss under two scenarios.
1) When running speedtest.net. The connection drops just as the download speed is ramping up. The only way to get the router up and running again is to unplug and replug the RBR750.
2) When updating via Adobe Creative Cloud
Again I know it's a total first world problem. I guess "just don't run speedtest" is one solution, but it is annoying to not being able to figure this out/stop it.

Devices announcing that they have no internet is an ambiguous situation. Sometimes this indicates that they are unable to resolve URL's into IP addresses. In the case of the Orbi router, I have a suspicion that it indicates that the router was unable to connect to a specific Netgear URL.
Can you please humor me and the next time you replicate this condition, can you test whether ICMP (ping) works but DNS resolution does not? i.e.
- Open a Command Window and type ping ford.com.
- If that fails, type ping 19.12.113.37
If this experiment is successful, try replacing the DNS entries in the Windows Ethernet adapter settings for IPv4 to use different DNS servers than the Orbi router, such as 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8
Is it possible to replicate this situation with any other device on the network? (Another PC or laptop?)
