Honestly, I have no idea how many 2.4G devices are capable of 802.11ax. If it costs even one penny more, why would manufacturers put it into a product intended for low bandwidth.
I would think, "Leave it on until some device doesn't work." It's 2024 now.
IEEE 802.11ax is what makes WiFi6 different from WiFi5. When WiFi6 came out, there were concerns that older WiFi devices might be incompatible with 802.11ax and stop working. Users were given an option to not use ax on the 2.4G and 5G bands. (Strange that one would deliberately purchase a WiFi6 product and then choose not to use it, but that was the general feeling at the time.)
I'd say, leave it enabled unless some specific device refuses to work correctly.
