RBR350 and Daisy Chain
#daisychain #rbr350 Hi (from Paris - France) I need to set my daisy chain on but I can't because the admin UI does not display the check box ! (then no check box in front of Backhaul Topology )...

The newer AX routers don't let the user change it. Its all automatically done behind the scenes by the router.

Hi Thanks for this but in my case, router seems not doing it : daisy chain is not on*,
*satellites 1 and 2 are connected to the router,
physical map : satellite 2 is quite far from the router and closer to satellite 1 which is, of course, closer to the router (like a chain then :-)).
result : devices connected to satellite 1 are not receiving at expected speed (twice less vs ones connected to satellite 2). issue that daisy chain is supposed to solve.
any idea ?
best

Here's the problem with daisy chain and dual band.
When you have a dual band device (not the tribands with the dedicated backhaul), each hop is going to drop speeds 50%. Reason why is the dual bands have to use the same chip to go router----satellite and then satellite----device. And it can't do both at once. So they're already going to be at 50% speeds just because of how it functions. Add in distance/obstruction/interference and that 50% speed can be much less. Now daisy chain a satellite that has to connect to a satellite thats already running at 30-45% speeds and it goes to the next satellite and take the same 50% speed hit plus distance/obstruction and its running significantly slower than the router/prior satellite.
So the satellites have to negotiate with the router to see if its faster to directly connect to the router that has a higher starting point or the satellite that might have a better signal but much lower speeds. so its not as simple as "it has a better connection". It might have a much better connection but lower speeds.
I don't know 100% but I believe thats why netgear disabled the user options for the AX devices for daisy chain.
The tribands have the dedicated backhaul that prevents as much speed drop.

thanks for this very detailed explanation. however, need for daisy chain is not only for high speed. better connection, in my case, is prio #1.
I'll continue to search for a solution (how to set / force daisy chain on) if there is one ! (at the end, this daisy chain capability was the main reason for purchase)
(strange things, here is the html code in the page around this daisy chain option)
<tr><td colspan="2" nowrap="nowrap"><b>Backhaul Topology</b></td></tr>
<TR id='daisy'>
<TD nowrap colspan="2">
<input type="checkbox" name="daisy_chain" onclick="return check_daisy_chain();"><b>Enable Daisy-Chain Topology</b>
</TD>
</TR>wondering if there is not an html issue in addition?

What happens if you set the RBRs power to 50 or 25%. THen after things settle in, Power OFF the 2nd RBS for 10 seconds then back ON? Does the 2nd RBS connect to the 1st RBS at all?

Well - how do you power down the RBR ?
(if RBR has less power, I guess the first RBS will receive less, then the negociation between RBR et second RBS will lead to the same result?)
But let s try this
