RBR750 - using a certain Wifi SSID doesn't work but any other SSID does?
I have the Orbi Mesh RBR750, firmware V4.6.14.3_2.3.12. Recently it hasn't been working well; it's hit or miss if devices can connect to the main WiFi network SSID, let's call it "Main". I've power c...

I have this exact same problem on this router with the same firmware. I rebooted today and then wifi would not reconnect. I reset the modem and I can connect with the default ssid. If I change the ssid back to the one of was using the it will no longer connect. I am thinking of trying the lasted firmware and see if that fixes it. This is so strange.

I upgraded to V7.2.6.21 and it did not make a difference. I reset the system back to the original SSID I was using before and it is discoverable and some of my devices are able to connect to it but many of them, including my Galaxy S23Ultra can no longer connect. I have forgotten the network on my phone, tried to connect and just get "Couldn't get IP address" or "Connection failed"
- RoadrashtxJan 06, 2024AspirantNew update : I was about to throw this thing in the trash. I tried changing from wpa2 to wpa2 +wpa3. That did not work. I then changed back to wpa2 and the rebooted the router. For some reason, now all my devices are connected. I am getting tired of how tempermental this router is.

Be aware that for some WiFi devices, especially older ones, since they never supported WPA3 or had any abillities to support WPA3, for unknown reasons, when routers have mixed mode WPA2 and WPA3 enabled, even though some of these devices shouldn't be looking at WPA3 at all, seem to hang up and will not connect if WPA3 is present on the signal with WPA2. Been a long standing issue for some router Mfrs and wifi devices that seem to need up FW update to tell these devices to avoid anything WPA3 but, considering these older devices are just that, old and most mfrs don't want to spend the money to update them, we are stuck with this incompatibility with WPA3 is present on the signal. I know as I have tested with a couple of NG routers that support wireless bridge mode. They work fine with WPA2 only mode, however with WPA3 is present, they won't connect. These routers are several years old and are mostly EoL, and NG isn't going to update them just for this so there now limited in use if WPA3 is used. So at least on the 7 and 8 series you can set WPA2 only mode. On the 9 series orbi, they don't have that option which I wish they would put in for better flexibility and compatibility in some of these cases.
So far been lucky all my stuff is still working with WPA3 present on my systems. Only a few don't. 🙄
