RBR750 TFTP issue

I distinctly remember that Verizon once sold a Verizon branded version of the RBR50 and never updated the firmware.
Would you mind sharing which company provided an RBR750 with proprietary firmware?
How Netgear routers flash firmware is a matter of speculation (I cannot find a Netgear document describing the actual boot process. Since different Netgear products are built on different firmware platforms, there is a distinct possibility that there is more than one platform.)
My observation is that while the Factory Reset process erases customer configuration, it may not be necessary for flashing firmware. i.e. every time the router powers up, it goes through a sequence of steps with the end result being normal operation. One of those steps appears to be waiting for a TFTP connection to flash firmware. Attempt the connection one second too soon, and it fails. Attempt one second too late and it fails. I once tried TFTP five times in a row and was reaching for the hammer when I thought, "what else do I have to do this afternoon?" and tried again. The sixth time, TFTP loaded and new firmware was installed.
The original Orbi products had actual power switches. The 750 has no power switch, so starting the process is a bit awkware. (I would connect the power supply to some sort of switch rather than fuss around with the plug.)
You might try a sequence of:
- Power on. "one potato" start TFTP.
- Power on "one potato, two potato" start TFTP
- Power on "one potato, two potato, three potato" start TFTP.
- etc.
p.s. while I am interested in nmrpflash, I never actually used that program. I used https://pjo2.github.io/tftpd64/
You are absolutely right. Surely the tftp is working as nmrpflash appears to be sending the file and while it happens, the router has red light. This means, like you said, the timing needs to be right if one is trying to do it manually. nmrpflash identifies the correct timing and sends the file. I'll give the manual a go but without the switch, it is really fiddly. Thanks for your help though.
Try NMRPFlash then, as it's supposed to figure out the timing for you and send the file soon as it detects TFTP is up and running.
That is the issue. I have tried that but get an error message "TFTP block rollover. Upload might fail!" and upload doesnt work (Upload file is more than 40MB and I think limit is 32MB)
