Can this crazy situation be reproduced at will?
(and it is totally crazy)
i.e. pull the plug out of the back of the router. mumble something. plug it back in and the router boots up.
Can do it over and over again. Powers up every time.
Pull the power supply from the wall. Plug it back in and the router does not power up until the plug is removed and reinserted. Not even one time - ever!
My only suggestion is to invest in a small UPS to power the router so that minor power situations do not result in disruption of service. (Long outages, of course, will eventually drain a UPS and force the 'plug issue'.) I prefer to have electronics protected by UPS units as a general practice to avoid surges and line noise.
The original Orbi routers came with a physical, push-button power switch next to the plug socket. This was removed in the AX product line. One fewer part to purchase and install. One fewer part to fail. Removes the chance of it getting pressed by accident. etc. etc.
