RBR850 blocking certain websites
Hi, fellow Orbians! I had an older Orbi system (AX4200) and was gifted this RBR850 (AX6000) kit. It was fully installed and going about our business until I wanted to source parts to build a chic...

Amazing how people don't want to listen.

Part 3 might be caused by malware or similar.

I keep posting logs and the replies are disappearing. I have pasted them into a pdf and attached them instead.

Ok, cable connections page looks good.
However, still event logs show critical. Any Criticals, Errors or Warnings seen in the event logs needs to be reviewed and resolved by the ISP. Indicates a signal issue on the ISP line up to the modem.
After you factory reset and setup from scratch, Try inputting some custom DNS addresses in on the RBRs web page under Advanced Tab/Setup/Internet. Try Cloudfare or Quad9 addresses here.

OK, update. The full reset seemed to work well. Everything was fine last night and up until about a half hour ago using Google DNS. I tried Tractor Supply website and got the same edgesuite.net error again. Home Depot works fine though. I switched to Cloudfare and no go. I turned my VPN on and dammit it works fine.
What is the problem with this thing? Do you really think that random sites are blocking Orbi because of critical errors coming from the line up to the modem? This is kind of absurd for how much this setup costs. Is this common? should I return it and just go back to my old ax4200 system?

Wrong question, Sir! You still don't want to understand these messages are coming on your working Internet connection - from the Akamai CDN front-end - in reply to a connection attempt to a Web server - neither from the your your cable modem nor from your RBR850?
Randomly changing the DNS servers you are querying don't make much difference.
Your VPN connection is using the same cable modem, the same router, the same Internet connection, isn't it? With the VPN enabled, the Akamai CDN does no longer "see" a direct connection from your Internet address (IPv4 or IPv6), thus - whatever is blocking your access attempts there - the connection does succeed.

You would not get them if the Netgear router would cause whatever blocks in your Internet connection data path

The operators of these big Web sites you try to access without success can translate these error strings https://techdocs.akamai.com/edge-diagnostics/docs/translate-error-string for troubleshooting on the Akamai Control Center https://control.akamai.com/ - normal users can't, because they don't have access.

I would have the ISP check in to those Criticals just to be sure.
Is IPv6 enabled or disabled on the RBR? I would disable it if it is enabled.
Seems odd why your seeing this issue with the 850 series in play and don't with VPN or direct to cable modem.
And this happens across all devices and different web browsers?
I just took my 850 series off line after testing new FW. Working great here.
So you have a Orbi 750 series? Same FW version or what's on it currently?

No IPV6. I never have. Yes, I have an RBR750 + 2 satellites, I upgraded to the RBR 850 + two satellites. The RBR850 was a gift so I was going to set up the RBR750 for my elderly mother's house. I have to wait now.
I will call Xfinity and ask them about the line criticals.
I not only really appreciate your help FURRYe38 but how fast you reply! Thank you!

K, Something to put on is the RBR750 and test it out and see if same thing happens.
What FW version is on this 750?
If things work ok on the 750, need to figure out whats going on with the 850 if this maybe causing problems.

I will try to put the RBR750 back into place tonight and test it out. In the meantime I have called Xfinity and they will come out tomorrow for some line tests.
While I was chatting with the agent I noticed the other sites, like HOme Depot and Macy's are failing again not too.
Such an odd phenomenon.

Hello schumaku, thank you for the links.
It was not that I would not listen it is that your first post resembled broken English and I could not understand what you were asking. I wrote that I did not understand what you meant. I am a simple home user with simple tech skills, that is it.
In the end, your links were the most useful so far, so thank you very much!
I re-installed my old AX4200 system and after about a week random sites became blocked again. I clicked through some of the Akamai documentation behind your links and used their analysis tool and noticed they have my public IP address risk-flagged as a web scraper.
It appears that I need to send them information to do an investigation to unflag my IP.
I am an admitted data hoarder but I would not call my actions "data scraping" nor malicious in intent.
Thank you to everyone for everything, I will take this up with Akamai.

I got nowhere with Xfinity and pleading for a new public IP.
I took the mesh system I was gifted to my elderly mother's home and set it up there since I thought that the site blocks were something tied to activity here but now she is getting blocked too.
It appears 1000% tied to the MAC Address of the ORBI somehow. I unwrapped and used a brand new CM1100 cable modem for her so it is not that.
I see LOTS of articles online about being blocked by Akamai but no way to resolve it. I tried to reach out to them to no avail.
Does anyone have any tips? This is clearly not something that we are doing. I am considering throwing the ORBI away, getting a new mesh system, switching providers for a year, and then switching back.

A service provider like Akamai does barley see your Orbi MAC address. More worth reading (easy to. Be missed) from Akamai if yo still experience this issue:
---
You can use our Client Reputation lookup application at https://www.akamai.com/us/en/clientrep-lookup/ to check whether your connecting IP address received a bad reputation score and submit an investigation request in case you believe it was mistakenly flagged as malicious.

Yes, I look at that website regularly and it is how I knew that they had my public IP flagged. Now that my mother has the ORBI her IP is flagged too. I have requested they investigate and sometimes I have checked and it is not flagged but it immediately goes back to being flagged again. Forwhat it is worth I use my own ORBI system here and I have never witnessed problems until I plugged in that other system to set it in advance up for my mother
