RBR850 Multicast Stutter
Hi, While trying to play any multicast content, it stutters and lags. I think it might be due to a missing IGMP Snooping protocol. Orbi is in Router mode and connected via ether to the satelli...

IGMP appears in the user manual only in the context of IGMP Proxy, to allow devices on the LAN to receive multicast from the internet.

Are there any Ethernet switches in the network?
Some switches are known to have defective IGMP Snooping (cannot remember which, sorry)

Hi,
Yeah one Netgear nighthawk, however it shouldn't be the issue because if I plug it directly in the satellites, the issue remains. Do you know what snooping is supposed to do and if it could help?

What is the brand and model# of the switch your using? Managed or non managed. If managed, then any IGMP protocols should be disabled if any RBS are ethernet connected to this switch.

IGMP Snooping is a feature to reduce the amount of multicast traffic by learning which devices on the network participate (and which do not):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IGMP_snooping
If the feature is not working correctly, then the switch might device, "these multicast packets do not need to go out these particular switch ports because there are no devices out that port that are part of this multicast group."
My sense is that a failure of IGMP Snooping would mean that a device simply cannot connect to a multicast host.
That would be a different problem that playback "stuttering".
