RBR850 won't talk to modem
Brand new ORBI 6 router creates a great network with two satellites. Multiple devices connected to router and satellites. Alas - no internet. The RBR850 router will not communicate with my Genexis Hy...

new firmware loaded - v.25 I think - once I'd configured the router in AP mode and could get online. The ISP modem/router doesn't have a model no... it's just a Genexis Titanium built on their Hybrid platform. And no, multiple restarts and reboots - with everything in the house turned off or disconnected - have had no effect.

Does the ISP modem.ONT have a built in router or just a modem/ONT only?
You night have the ISP check the configuration of there modem/ONT and see if there is anything they can help with. AP mode should work.
Is the RBRs web page reporting Internet status on the home base page?
Did you configure the RBR for Dynamic or Static IP addressing for AP mode?
You are connected to the ISP modem/ONT using the WAN port on the back of the RBR?
v6 is the lastest version:

The ISP modem does have a router built in. With my old RBR50 using the same ports and cable, it worked fine and although it broadcast its own SSID I never used it, preferring the Orbi mesh network.
My new RBR850 is only working in AP mode now. In practice it doesn't affect usability - I appear to have a Orbi mesh network throughout th'e house - but I wonder why it won't work in router mode.
Curiously when I was trying to set it up in router mode, using the orbilogin.net page on a computer the internet was showing as 'Good' even though it was not connected.
The RBR850 is configured for dynamic IP addressing.
thank you for considering my predicament!

There are problems having modems with built in routers and using external routers sometimes. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop- scottgarrettAug 28, 2020Aspirant
Thank you. I've raised a ticket with my ISP to try to bridge the Genexis. Will report back...
