RBRE960 encrypted DNS

Hello, I see in the router settings you can specify your DNS servers. When using custom DNS IP addresses, is the router connecting with those DNS servers with an encrypted connection? Thanks!

    My impression is not encrypted.  It has been some time ago, but for an experiment I captured the actual DNS queries on the cable between Orbi and modem and they were typical UDP port 53 queries.

     

    When specific web browsers are configured to use encryption on DNS queries, they may bypass the Orbi dns resolver entirely.  I have not studied that to form an opinion either way.
