RBRE960 Intermittent Slow Internet Speeds
Problem: The problem is that for mostly the mobile devices (iPad/iPhone), the internet speed varies and can be extremely slow. Disconnecting and reconnecting the device to wireless sometimes help...
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.
Was this happening all long or just recently?
When was the FW updated?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

Basements are not recommended locations for the main RBR unit. All that concrete and steel will cause problems and inhibit good wifi signal travel and coverage. Main or 2nd level are recommended locations for the RBR.
1st floor RBS has a poor status so maybe seeing poor performances here.
Is the separate 6Ghz SSID network enabled or disabled?
Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.

This has been a problem for a while. Router has no problem with internet speed going through the modem/ONT, so I don't think that is the issue. WiFi speeds in the basement can go from 350 - 500 Mbps. I don't get that speed from anywhere else, but at least on my devices which aren't as mobile, the speeds are more or less consistent. If I just had consistently okay speed I could deal with this.
Size: 5,100 Sq Ft.
Not sure of the distance between the RBR and RBS, but it is unlikely to be less than 20-30ft.
- 6 Ghz only network is enabled with a different SSID
- If I didn't know better, which i don't, I'd swear the builder put in a Faraday Cage in the basement where the router is located 🙂
I'd try and get the RBR out of the basement. If this has been on going problem, would seem to be the main issue of the RBR not being in a good place to provide good Wi-Fi coverage and performances. This will cause issues getting good signal to the RBS. Bad signal in, bad signal out as some could say. Thus why your having problems with one RBS having poor status and when connected at the RBS, would see same bad performances.
I would disable the 6Ghz separate SSID as well. The main WLAN already has 6Ghz included and running with the other radios.
Been users posting having issues with v.31 FW as well. We've made NG aware of this. Last good working and stable FW is v.21 and is recommended.
I'll keep you posted. I may need to get someone to run Ethernet between the basement and 1st floor ultimately to resolve this.
Home builders: Don't put ONTs in basements please, or add at least one ethernet connection at a reasonable location.
