RBRE960 Satellites keep swapping between wired and wireless backhaul
Watching the topology of my network through my UniFi switch, my satellites swap between wired and wireless backhaul every 30 seconds. This causes problems with my network, constantly.
I have tried everything I can think of to disable the wireless backhaul. The router won't let me SSH or telnet in and the user interface doesn't give me the option to disable wireless backhaul. PLEASE HELP!

First, there is no mechanism to disable the WiFi backhaul link between Orbi router and satellites. None. This is an essential part of the device design.
It would be really useful to understand:
- What this Unifi Switch is, and
- How the various Orbi units are connected to this switch.
- What operating mode is the Orbi router in? ("router" or "access point" [AP])
Wireless BH can NOT be disabled.
Be sure you have a non managed swtich between the RBR and any ethernet connected swtiches.
NG GS-105/108v4 and GS308v3, D-Link DGS-105/108 and HP ProCurve 1400/1800 series switches work for Orbi systems. XS505M and GS110MX work great with the 9 series.

The same behavior was observed with a non-managed switch, then a new beefier non-managed switch, and finally what I have now. In fact, it was so bad that whenever my son used Steam to download a game (nowhere near max bandwidth), the entire network dropped and everyone lost internet until the router cycled. So, I upgraded. At least now, I don't lose the router and satellites.
I'm currently using an USW-Pro-Max-24 switch. Simplified topology: Modem --> router --> switch --> satellites. Few other clients are wired to switch, as well. Why would Netgear prevent users from disabling wireless backhaul due to a scenario where you might lose the wired backhaul -- the most stable of all connections. It makes zero sense. If I lost ethernet or the switch, then I probably lost the modem, ISP, power, or the home is on fire.
Most like yes, during any fault at the ethernet connection, the RBS can revert to wireless connection when and if needed. Thus wireless BH is always at the ready and can't be disabled. Been like this since 2016.
If the RBS are flipping back and forth, this means there is a problem between the RBS, cabling and any inter connected switches. For 1Gb switches, recommend using the 1Gb ports on the RBS to connect them to the switch using CAT6 UTP cabling. For 2.5Gb switches, recommend using the 2.5Gb port on the RBS to connect them to the switch using CAT6A STP cabling.
Also causes for the RBS flipping back and forth is the kind of switch you have the mix. Yours seems to be a managed switch. Been many issues with managed switches and Orbi systems. NG GS-105/108v4 and GS308v3, D-Link DGS-105/108 and HP ProCurve 1400/1800 series NON-Manged switches work for Orbi systems. XS505M and GS110MX also work great with the 9 series. All personally tested with my 960 series. MS105(2.5Gb Non managed) Also works.
