RBS750 Boot Loop - flashes white

Hey Community.

I have a startup issue with my RBS750. đŸ˜ą

Since the global push out of FW ver4.6.8.2 a few weeks back my RBS is stuck in a power-up boot loop.

  1. I cannot factory reset it.  The green power light stays on, there is no flashing amber when pressing a paper clip into the reset button. Held for over 20 seconds many times.
  2. I can get a flashing amber when I press the button in first then insert the power
but it does not reset my RBS.  It continues to boot-loop.
  3. The device does not appear on my network.  I have plugged it directly into the NIC on my PC.  I cannot ping it.  It’s booting, then starting again.
  4. My NIC tries to identify the RBS about every 2 minutes, because the RBS is in a boot loop, but it just keeps flashing white.

The firmware on my RBR is now RBR750-V4.6.8.2_2.1.9.  I have full access to this.  It does not see or sync to my satellite.
The iOS app will connect to the RBR it cannot see my satellite.

I have called NetGear Support.  They want to charge me for a support contract.

This device has failed during a global firmware push.

It will not startup as expected.  It is within my 2 year warranty.
There is no way for me to fix this remotely.  But I cannot explain this to support.

Now... I'd like to ask for the community support please... The unit is not able to be controlled, it is in a boot loop.
Only a technical intervention or swap will sort this issue.

  • Sounds like the RBS may have not been updated before the RBR was possibly.

Try a 1 minute long press of the RBS reset button then release.

What happens if you ethernet connect the RBS to the back of the RBR? Does it happen to get a IP address from the RBR long enough to log into the RBS web page?

Would need to update the RBS if you can get to it's web page:

Hey FURRYe38  .  Thanks again for all your 'guru' work in this community.

My device will not get to a 'controllable' stage.  I have plugged it into the RBR and my PC NIC.
It does  not 'boot' long enough to be viable.  It then cycles power and starts again.

It powers up with 12 white flashes over 25 seconds (with long gaps)

Then goes to the fade-in fade-out white light til 1minute 20 seconds.
... then cycles and goes back to the start.

      This device is not bootable.

I have tried holding the reset button in longer... but like above.  It will not reset when green.  But when the unit goes past that cycle stage at around 1 min 20secs it will go amber then flash.   When I release after flashing the light goes blank, then goes green within 2 seconds.

I've tried multiple ideas and would like to get this swapped.
It has been turned off for more than 3 days as well.

      NOTE:
I bought this in July year... and has worked fine.
I have the RBS on a cable backhaul to the RBR.
It's set and forget.  I havent needed to do anything else.
It's only when my kids complained about wifi issues that I looked at the RBS.  It was flashing like it is now.

How do I get the hardware team to fault this?

I recommend you reach out to the NG support team and see if they can help you with this. An RMA maybe needed.
