RBS760 disable wifi

hey,
i have a garden house that shields wifi extremely well, so placing a mesh node inside does not work reliably. but putting one node on the outside and one staelite inside, both connected via a lan cable (ehternet backhaul) seems to work fine.
here's the problem: sometimes some devices connect to the node outside of the garden house. again leaving me with low bandwith and unreliable behavior. i just want the satelite in the house to provide wifi. and the other one just do the backhauling.

i have not found a way to acomplish that.

cheers,

flo

second question: is there a way to backhaul with 2.4 ghz and provide wifi with only 5ghz?

  • WiFi on Orbi system can never be disabled.

    Not on the 760 series.

If it is impractical to install an Ethernet cable between the main house and the garden house, my thoughts are:

      • You could attempt to "block" the outside WiFi from the inside of the garden house by placing more metal in the path. 3-4 pieces of sheet metal placed behind the outside satellite might impact the WiFi signals enough to keep devices inside the garden house from connecting to it.
      • What many users do is install a pair of WiFi units called a WiFi Bridge.  One connected to a LAN port on an Orbi in the house and one installed outside the garden house connected via that Ethernet cable to the satellite inside the house. These units are rated in terms of kilometers, so people often find that the unit in the main house can be installed indoors, thus eliminating the need to penetrate the outside wall of the main house.
Search on Amazon for "wireless bridge point to point outdoor", and read the customer comments.  While main stream suppliers such as Ubiquiti and TP-Link usually are more expensive, there are "knock off" products costing under $100 for a pair.  (I would look for good reviews - and more than a dozen!)
