RBS850 compatibility with RBR750
Hi, I have an RBR750 system with 2 RBS750 satellites. We've moved to a bigger house and the system isn't quite covering the whole property. You can't seem to buy additional satellites for the 750 sy...

FURRYe38 Finally seem to have it fixed. The issue with the FW was that I was trying to update the RBS850 to V7.2.6.21 as that's what the 750 system is on but the V7 for the 850 is V7.2.6.31. Have now updated the 850 successfully to V7 and everything seems to be working as it should.
For some reason though, I can no longer log into the web UI for the 850 satellite since updating it to V7.2.6.31

Thanks for the response but I just need to know if a RBS850 can be added to a RBR750 system.

Yes.
You'll probably need to ethernet connect the RBS 850 first to the RBR and get the FW on the RBS updated to same version as what's on the 750 series system. Then the incoming RBS should work well.

Thanks for that bit of advice. I probably would have forgotten about matching the FW on the new satellite.

Can I just check that I the firmware version I should update the new RBS850 to is version:
RBR750 / RBS750 Firmware Version 7.2.6.21

The latest firmware for the 750 product can be found here:

Thanks but I was asking about the 850 products I'm adding to my 750 system.

Again, I know where the FW download is. My question is does the RBS850 need to be on the same FW as the existing 750 system it's being added to. FURRYe38 you advised previously that it did which would mean updating it to Version 7.2.6.21 as that's the FW the 750 system is on.

Yes.

FURRYe38 Thanks for confirming and your advice so far. So, how do I get the same FW onto the RBS850? Do I just need to connect it to the RBR750 via ethernet and that'll enable me to log into the RBS850 and manually update the FW? Or can I add the satellite to the system via the app and then update the FW manually?

Can try wirelessly syncing the incoming RBS to the RBR750. I would first turn OFF ALL existing RBS. Then with incoming RBS in same room as the RBR, one at a time, try wireless syncing. If one fails to not fully connect, then ya, ethernet connect the RBS to the back of the RBR and log in with the IP address given from the RBR. Log in maybe admin and password if it doesn't sync fully.

Well, failing so far. Have tried setting it up wirelessly from the app several times. Once from about 25 foot away. No joy so put it in the same room in as the router. 2 attempts and still no joy. I've connected it to the router via ethernet now but it just shows up as any other device does.
Any advice FURRYe38 ?
I've logged into it via its IP and tried to update the firmware to the same as the rest of the system but update fails.

What FW version is loaded on the incoming RBS?
I presume you did unpack the FW file from the .zip file. Should be loading a .CHK file to the RBS web page.
MS Edge or FireFox would be recommended browsers.
- Dazza762Apr 05, 2024LuminaryIt’s on an old 3.something FW. I’ve disconnected now. Yes, it was the unpacked file. The same one I’d successfully updated my existing 2 satellites with earlier today.

Ok, so reconnect the RBS via ethernet and this time, download and send the this v4 version to the RBS:
https://kb.netgear.com/000063918
If this succeeds, then load this v4 version up on the rest of the RBS850s. Then try the v7 version of FW. If that still fails, load up the very last v4 version, then try the v7.

Just as a reminder, were only working on the RBS850s. No RBR750 or RBS750. If you have WEB UI access to the RBS850s that are incoming, that's all that's needed here. Make no FW changes with the 750 series stuff.
- Dazza762Apr 05, 2024Luminary
Understood. The rest of the system is already on the current FW so we're just discussing the RBS850 and trying to get it connected to the RBR750
- Dazza762Apr 05, 2024Luminary
Ok. Just updated the RBS850 to the V4 you provided on the web interface but it's now saying it's on Firmware Version : 0.0.0.0
- FURRYe38Apr 05, 2024Guru - Experienced User
Ok kewl. Try v7 then.
- Dazza762Apr 05, 2024Luminary
Still failing to upgrade to the V7 update though
- FURRYe38Apr 05, 2024Guru - Experienced User
Try very last v4 version of FW.
- FURRYe38Apr 05, 2024Guru - Experienced User
Or try this v4 version first:

I see, NG snuck one in on us. You should have RBS access, however since the 750 series isn't on v.31, and the RBS is, possible not working for the WEB UI. You can downgrade the RBS to v.21 or I presume in near future, the 850 series will see the v.31 FW then you could upgrade the 750 series and all be on same version of FW.
