RBS850 Disconnected from Router
We have had a router and 3 satellites for a little over two years now. Recently one of the satellites disconnected from the system and I have been struggling to reconnect it. I have done several hard factory resets and have been met with several different outcomes:
- Either shows a magenta light (despite being hardwired)
- Creates its own network (Orbi 38) which is not tied into the main network
- Most recently joined but then crashed after three minutes
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

One of the first questions is the specific firmware release on each unit.
Since satellites are portable, perhaps it might be worth trying this:
- Temporarily move the satellite into the same room as the router.
- Before powering on the satellite, go into the router Attached Devices page and Delete this satellite.
(Obviously this cannot be done if the satellite does not appear at all on Attached Devices.)
(Often a satellite that is powered off will show as Disconnected and offer an option to Delete it.) - Do another Factory Reset on the satellite.
- Power up the satellite and go through the web "Add Orbi Satellite" menu process.
- The satellite should connect via WiFi and allow you to connect to the satellite web interface and view the firmware release number.
- If the satellite seems to function for a while, connect it to the router with a short Ethernet cable and see if it switches to 'wired' backhaul.
