Bad connection to Orbi RBS850 satellite
Hello I bought an Orbit RBK853 (with RBR850 and RBS850) before Christmas 2019. I'm about to throw the device out and buy another product, because I have several problems so far and still no solution...

Any older CAT5 cabling, I would upgrade for sure. CAT6 is mimimum now days.
Glad the system is working now. Please mark your thread as solved so others will know.
Enjoy. :smileywink:

It maybe possible that this model has a built in router and wifi already...if so, This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop
Try setting manual channel to 1, 6, 11 or 13. Use a web browser to log into the RBRs web page to change channels, you can't change channels using the Orbi app.

thank you for the answer. I have now had the time to reinstall everything again. So far it looks like I have no more connection problems. But every now and then the network is still very weak 3Mbps instead of 500Mbps. I will now renew all my old Ethernt cables to Kat7 and hope to have a really good network :-) Thanks again!
