Both support AX modes. Both have 1000Mpbs LAN ports. So any wired speed testing thru these ports will only result in seeing near or just over 900Mpbs. You'll not see any speeds over 1000Mpbs on the LAN ports of the 7 and 8 series Orbi.
Wireless, if you have AX supporting devices, depending upon there design and #x# antenna MIMO support, you can get over 1000Mpbs on the 8 series system since it supports a 2.5Gb WAN port and if you have a 2.5Gb supporting ISP Modem/ONT and ISP services that have speeds over 1000Mpbs. On the 7 series, this is limited by it's WAN port that only supports 1000Mpbs so wired and wireless speeds, even thought it support 2400Mpbs AX wireless connection rates, will never see over 1000Mpbs speeds.

So only the 8 models can see the full gigabit using AX? Actually most of the devices are AC or lower.. I’m buying a PCI Express card just today for the computer for 802.11ax Asus brand to test out.. The 7 models have that AX enabled too doesn’t it? Thank you for all your answers.

Thank you. I just made it much faster by running in AP mode, but disabling the wireless in the ISP router (not Orbi). I am getting better speeds across the other side of the house (400+/400+) so that's good; My 802.11ax device will come in tomorrow and I will see if it makes any difference.
- michsuSep 09, 2021ApprenticeIt seems AP mode is faster than router mode after many tests. I don’t understand why though.

Your ISP Modem already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

However, AP mode is still faster than using Orbi in regular router mode just by itself.

Probably keep this configuration until NG comes out with next FW update.
Things to remember is that yoru ISP has a wifi and router built in.
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Loaded the Beta, fingers crossed that this addresses the isssue(s) I was having. Speed test speeds are back to being close, however the datetime is showing:"Latest test result (12:12 Sep 4, 2021)", don't know what thats all about. Current datetime on the router is Thursday, 09 September 17:56:00. That is in the browser the app looks to be correct.
- AggedwNGSep 10, 2021ApprenticeHas Netgear even acknowledged the issue with lan connectivity on RBR750's due to fw 4.6.3.7?? I see that they've acknowledged the issue with wifi disconnects and internal speed test figures but I still haven't heard or seen any form of acknowledgement from them on the issue with downloads over lan, locking up the router (magenta) and forcing a hard reboot.. Netgear Support has been zero help with no answers. No knowledge of the beta being mentioned and no acknowledgement on whether the beta will even address that issue. A month now I've been having to rely on an old router with old tech to do what I need to, while my 90 day warranty on this RBR750 is slowly expiring..

Also running the beta. Hadn't been having MAJOR issues before, just the occasional drop of internet/magenta that was part of other peoples issues. Consider myself lucky but wanted to test beta nontheless. The speedtest date seems to show the previous test time. Run it twice over 5 minutes and the time/date shows the test date/time from 5 minutes ago.
Otherwise I have been rock solid stable now for 2 days.

I've asked specicailly if it addresses that issue and haven't gotten a definitive response only thing mentioned is "other stability".

Does anyone know how we can get a hold of the Firmware Beta that addresses the connectivity issues introduced with version 4.6.3.7?
I have had the same connectivity issues that everyone else has been seeing since the introduction of the updated firmware in July.
Thanks

Have you contacted NG support about the beta there offiering?

I don't have extended warranty support (90 day support ended on Sep 1st) - can I still open a ticket and request this?
- ahswpSep 10, 2021Apprentice
Since making the reccomended changes (eg moving 2.4 to 25% etc) that are outlined above my system has been fairly stable. Haven't had the disconnect issues, but several of my 2.4 devices don't connect - likely they're too far from the router. I just got the beta software. I'm afraid to try it "if it aint broke dont' fix it"... has anyone used the beta and seen the disconnect issues from the satalite fixed?
Thanks! - Timothy88Sep 10, 2021Luminary
Interesting, after loading the beta I think this is the first time I've ever seen and entry in UPnP.

Were you able to get the beta FW?

I could really use that beta firmware as well. It's super frustrating that nobody will post it and NG won't give access. Ugh.
- SolomanSep 11, 2021Star
Yes I did thanks - the system is much more stable. The only odd thing that I see is that 1 of my two satellite's is wired and that one has a good connection, the other one is on a wireless connection and the system summary says that there is a sync issue. I have tried resynching it using the sync button on that Satellite and then on the main router, but that message does not clear - it does not seem to be affecting my system, so I am not sure if it is simply a nuisance status message.

Try powering OFF the RBR and RBS for 1 minute, then back on?

- jaideepdocSep 11, 2021GuideHi
2 days back did a reboot through the orbi app on iOS . The system has been stable since then with good connectivity between the main and satellite units . The speed also is better - FURRYe38Sep 12, 2021Guru - Experienced User
Thanks for letting us know. You still using v7 FW as well?

Thanks - I tried the reboot through the IOS App first and that did not clear the wireless Satellite connectiveity issue. I then followed the reccomendation of powering down the system and rebooting thorugh that method and all Sateliite's connected. System appears to running stable - will watch it over the next several days to see if it remains that way. Preliminary feedback is that Beta version 4.6.3.16 is working great!
Thanks

Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

- jdk1120Sep 12, 2021ApprenticeReporting back after a week with the beta firmware. The intermittent connectivity issue has been much better, but not absent. Every once in a while my satellite randomly goes blue/magenta. But since it's not every 5-10 like it used to be, I am able to have my work zoom calls in relative peace.
I hope Netgear provides a permanent solution soon... - FURRYe38Sep 13, 2021Guru - Experienced User
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?
I would power OFF the ISP modem for 1 minute. Factory reset the Orbi router and power it off. Power ON the ISP modem and let it sync. Then power ON the Orbi router and walk thru the setup wizard again using a wired PC and a web browser.
