I have noticed issues that only seem to crop up after days of running - as few as 3-4 days, as many as 22 days. They are router or satellite restarts, memory growth in satellites to the point of causing a reboot and disconnect of all devices. I have seen WiFi disconnect and stop working until the router was rebooted. Have seen IPv6 stop working until it was re-enabled (likely a Comcast-NG interaction issue). I have seen satellites lose their backhaul connection with the router.
I believe at least the memory creep issues are related to using 2 satellites on Ethernet backhaul, just a guess. It could also be related to higher speed networks, mine is a 2G/200MB service. Maybe it's a combination of different factors that make the perfect storm that problems can appear? The % of Netgear customers with 2G and multiple Ethernet-wired backhaul satellites is small, I suspect. Plus, if there are some bugs that pop up after a number of days of running, NG has said that this kind of testing is very hard for them to do.
I just went back to v.21 to see how it runs. If v.31 is working well, great - if not, some caution could be warranted to try V.21 before spending lots of time trying to find a problem.

As the last part of my support call for the ports 2/3 speed issues, they had me update to .31. FWIW, I never had any noticeable .31 issues. And updating back to it didn't fix the ports, of course, or cause any other issues so far.
I just received a replacement RBR960 - hoping that fixes the ports - hard to imagine it wouldn't. Will be interesting to see what firmware comes on it out of the box.

Replacement RBR960 came with firmware V6.3.7.10_3.3.3 - interesting.
And this replacement has not solved my port 2/3 speed issue, but now I know why...more on that in a few...

Basically, it an incompatibility or bug(s) between the RBR960 and the Xfinity XB7 highspeed 2.5G port. And nothing to do with firmware versions.

Might try changing out the ISP modem for a NG modem only option. I believe they support NG CM series modems.

For users having problems with there Orbi units after updating to v.31, We recommend that if you have done most troubleshooting efforts to clear the issues seen after loading v.31 and still experience problems, you'll need to downgrade back to v.21 version. RBS first then RBR lastly. It's recommended after downgrading, to perform a Factory Reset and setup from scratch to ensure there no lingering FW from v.31 on the system. Also disable the Auto Update feature on the RBRs web page soon after to avoid the system re-updating back to v.31.
We have made NG aware of the issues with v.31 and have ask them to consider pulling back FW v.31 for all Orbi AX and AXE systems.
Thank you. - owlynAug 21, 2024LuminaryGuess I’ve been lucky. I’m on .31 with no problems since it came out.
- liamscorAug 22, 2024LuminaryI managed to get firmware 7.2.6.31 working now by moving the satellites closer. It seems that 31 has had some change that requires a stronger connection between the satellites. I used an app to scan for the wireless backhaul strength. I did have to spend quite a bit of time finding new places to put the satellites, but now that all the satellites show a good connection, things seem to be stable and fine for the most part.

I'm back to .31 as well, only because support suggested it as part of some trouble-shooting, but it has been fine for me. I have not noticed any issues with it and I didn't the first time I installed it either as far as I could tell. Will keep an eye on it. My current config is a 1 wired SAT and another wireless backhaul SAT that is daisy-chaining off the wired one. Performance is quite good.
