There we go. Ok, glad you confirmed information with the ISP.
Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Ok ... so I have what Century Link calls a router but is 2 separate units. 1 is the ONT Modem and the other the "Router".
ONT is the Calix 716GE-I R2
Router (Wi-Fi) part is the Zxcel C1100
I called the ISP / Century Link and told them what I was doing (replacing the "Router"). They told me with current configruation that they can see it should be plug and play. They said the "modem" was set with IpoE / DHCP. I woul dnot need any PPPoE or 201 Tagging set up. So all should be stright foward with the configuration of the Netgear Orbi.
I cannot say that I saw how the Calis ONT is configured, but this iwhat I was told. So far ... 2 days no disconnect from the internet yet after a Factory Reset and reconfigure (after the v16 update)

Well ... it lasted 11 days - 2 hours since my factory reset, (power down ONT, RBR850 & RBS850 etc)
Reset steps performed below were;
1.Confiormed V4.6.3.16_2.0.51 was running prior to powering everything off
2. Powered for ONT, RBR850 & RBS850 and stayed powered off for 10 min
3. Powered up ONT waited until all was connected
4. Powered up RBR850 waited until connected
5. Powered up RBS850 waited until connected
6. Reconfigured all settings from scratch in ORBI
After doing the above this is a longest the ORBI lasted without a "No Internet" disconnect however this is still not accetable and Netgear NEEDS to get this fixed. I am getting to the piont that I would rather reinstall my much slower Zyxcel router and have a reliable "stay connected" status at all times until Netgear gets this fixed with an official release ... for eveyone.
This is so so so disapointing in so many ways. Why is a fix taking so long to release when you can clearly see that this an issue for many many users? Does anyone have insight on when there will be a release for a fix? Why does Netgear not respond to any of these posts to keep us upated and / or acknoledge that there is a issue?

Try this?
I'm on day 3 so far with no issues seen...yet.

- EmonsonDec 21, 2021GuideGlad to see other people have success with the full reset. Unfortunately my success lasted less than 24 hours!
I’ll give it another try but I am so frustrated. - xory72Dec 21, 2021Star

Hmmm ... OK. What did you do with your RBS(s) Do you leave them at V4.6.3.16?Where did this update come from?
Also, hard reset again and reconfigure from scratch again?

Also, hard reset again and reconfigure from scratch again? YES, I didn't reset the RBS, just the RBR. - skeeloDec 22, 2021Luminary

Any ides when NG is going to push FW update V4.6.5.14_2.0.54T4? I am inclined to let it do its thing and auto update. I am on V4.6.3.16_2.0.51 and the router admin page claims there is no new firmware available.

Ironically after another month with no issues, I woke up to my RBR on the fritz again. Just in time to try the new firmware.
Started with factory resetting my satellites (3) then headed to my RBR to factory reset that, too. Interestingly, after rebooting the satellites the RBR started working without issue and has been for nearly an hour. I had to reboot the RBR once to get the network map to update as it was still recognizing the other 3 factory reset satellites as on and connected with devices attached but after the reboot the network map read correctly as only the RBR active, I removed the other 3 satellites from the router tools attached device list.
So, I loaded firmware V4.6.5.14_2.0.54T4 on the RBR. Take note, unlike other firmware updates where there is a notification and progress bar after clicking upload, with this firmware there is nothing or at least there was nothing when I uploaded. If it were not for the flashing white ring on my RBR I would not have known anything was happening.
I am going to reboot the RBR one more time then get to the tedious task of adding the satellites back. The silver lining in all of this is I did not have to reboot EVERYTHING which saves me from renaming 40+ devices on the network, I at least learned this time an copied the device list from Access Control...
Considering the series of events with my reboot, I wonder if the connectivity issues is being driven by th satellite/ RBR connection? Regardless, I hope this firmware update fixes the issue once and for all.

I used MS Edge and also didn't notice a progress bar loading on top of v16.
I turned OFF my RBS and loaded the FW, factory reset using the ERASE button and setup from scratch. Wanted to be sure I had a good fresh installation and clear out any v16 lingering code.
I powered on RBS 1 at at time to let them wirelessly re-sync. They connected successfully. Both are now ethernet connected and working.
Still up and running 4 days now.

Makes sense. After 2 complete reboots in the prior months and the time it takes to get everything up and running from scratch, I will roll the dice this time with the firmware update over v16 instead of from scratch.
Here is hoping this corrects this issue. I am hopeful it took long to release this new firmware because they QC'd the hell out of it!

Not being a jerk - suggest you read the 9 pages of this thread to come up to speed.
Not at all a NG fanboi and certainly expressed my share of frustrations. Appears there was a complete QA miss with v4.6.3.16 which led to lots of expressed frustration from users, appropriately so given the connectivity of life and investment into these sytems. Additional frustrations due to incredible lack of communication from anyone at NG until recently (if you could call a post by an admin 8 pages in looking for beta testers communication) and because the "fix" (v4.6.5.14) took a long time to develop and it's still not technically deployed.
My hope is the delay in deploying 4.6.5.14 is because NG learned their lesson and extensively QA'd... time will tell.

Why does Netgear release updates only to have it cause so much problems?
- FURRYe38Dec 22, 2021Guru - Experienced User
I don't have the reasons why there are so many problems. I don't work for NG. They only know whats going on behind the scenes. I can only help troubleshoot and help make suggestions from personal experiences.

Well murphy law happened ... with 5 hours or leaving the house for the holidays the Orbi disconnects!!! So frustrating.
I will be back at my house on Wednesday Dec 29 and will take the plunge with the V4.6.5.14_2.0.54T4 firmware like you guys have done. I just did nto have time to mees with it before I had to leave. From the sounds of things, it has been stable for 8+ days now for FURRY.
I will post when I get the V4.6.5.14 installed and also post with updates along the way.

That's too bad
many have reported problems with V4.6.5.14_2.0.54T4.
NG needs to come up with damn fix already! We all spend decent moeny for the Orbi .. and we get this crap! Netgear ... Man up and response to us with some clarity. Or do you justnot care? If V4.6.5.14 does not fix my drop outs ... I will have to start searching for another router and sell the Orbi and let it be somoene elses problem.

I've been using the .16 firmware for a couple months and not a single issue or disconnect with gig fiber connection. I wonder why some people have disconnects and others do not. I did a factory reset before upgrading.

I'm using the V4.6.5.14_2.0.54T4 for like a week now and I do think am running more stable, I see much less, maybe no outages at all anymore. Some extra things I did that might make a difference:
- Turn sattelite off that was within 30 ft (and wired), now running on 1 router and 1 sattelite (how big are your houses, really :-o)
- Sattelite is wired to the router
- Router hard reset after the update
- Satellites hard reset (long time ago when the upgrade to .16 first occured) - they are now still at .16
- RafSDec 28, 2021Apprentice
I wonder if that's the solution, to reset BEFORE doing the upgrade. I had issues with the last two firmwares and finally had enough and exchanged my Orbi for a new one at Best Buy since I had a protection plan on it which was about to expire. Before I set anything up, I upgraded the satellite to 4.6.3.16, then the router, and then I finally set everything back up from scratch and everything has been running smooth for the last 6 days. The Orbis are in the same exact spots they were in originally and working like they were when I first got them back in Jan. 2020. The final straw for me was the backhaul kept failing and saying it was out of sync and like I said, the position of the satellite hasn't changed for close to 2 years. Hopefully everything stays stable like it has been but I won't be jumping on firmware updates like I normally do and wait to see how they effect others before taking the plunge this time and will reset the Orbi before doing any upgrades, even though it takes a little longer.
