Re: One MacBook Pro will not get IP from satellite

I just wanted to thank you BOTH for helping me solve this problem. I have literally been troubleshooting this issue on and off for what feels like 3 years. My laptop one day stopped connecting to the Satellite and I was trapped into connecting via ethernet to my satellite or having to go downstairs to force my computer to connect to the router instead of the satellite.

I finally ran across these posts today and OP did such a great job of detailing the issue and all of the troubleshooting steps that we've both been through, and the person who responded provided new things to try and.... either unchecking the 20/40 mHZ or flipping the SIP ALG off and then back on FIXED THE ISSUE!!! I am finally online from a place upstairs that is NOT connected at my desk and it is amazing!

So, just wanted to share my thanks and appreciation for helping me solve a years-long mystery and source of frustration.

  • Never mind. That bliss and joy was short lived because I just got kicked back off. I should have waited to post until I knew for sure it was fixed. I forgot that sometimes it connects for an hour and then disconnects again. Same thing happened when I connected to a guest network instead of the main network. Worked for an hour and then kicked me back out to no IP address. Thanks anyway
