It seems that the ethernet ports are not well made. My last Orbi got recycled when the ethernet ports died after 10 years so fair enough, it owed me nothing at that point. This one has been 6 months ...
There is another method to confirm whether the in-wall cable (and associated jacks on each end, etc.) is causing the connection to auto-negotiate to 100Mbps. I purchased a 100ft. Cat6 cable from Amazon for under $20. I rather enjoy** stringing this cable through the house from one end to the other (up the stairs, etc.). If the RBR50 runs at full speed using the temporary cable, then the problem is definitely with the in-wall link.
**The rest of my family does not find this as entertaining, so once the experiment is complete I roll it back up again.
