I've had this issue too. I experimented a bit and enabled the IOT SSID on JUST the 2.4GHZ radio and ZERO issues. Additionally, when connected to a satellite either via WIFI 5GHZ on the primary SSID...

This actually didn't work for me 😞
I repeated the same procedure twice with two different RBR850s. The 5GHz device radio keeps dropping connections. I also verified it's not WPA3, and WPA2 also has the issue. So it's not the secrets handling. I'm speculating, but that firmware seems to have permanently changed a radio setting, maybe collision handling? IDK. The backhaul 5ghz and device 2.4ghz work with zero packet loss.
Has FW been downgraded on the RBS first then RBR lastly, factory reset and setup from scratch is required after wards, disable auto update on the RBR.
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.How many RBS are deployed?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

What channel configurations are currently set on the router?The RBR is in AP mode and is connected to a Cisco ASA FW - so ISP isn't relevant. PING drops were to the RBR static IP while connected to RBR 5Ghz. When wired (RBR or RBS) or on 2.4GHz (RBR or RBS) or connected to RBS 5ghz, no ping drops.
2 RBS in the mesh. They are closer than 30 feet, but separated by floors. It's an old house with plaster (aka chicken wire faraday cage), which is why the WIFI 6 had worked so well before this started happening. I was REALLY happy with Orbi before this issue. Now not so much.
Let me test with the RBS' unplugged and I'll reply back.
WRT channel config, I've tried 40, 44, and 48 - same results. I used Netspot to determine the channels not in use in my neighborhood and settled on 40 as no one else is using that channel.
