I would update the RBS first to v.15 then RBR lastly. v.31 was known to have problems
I've had this version on my 854 series running well and RBS are now ethernet connected. 20+ days of good up time.
I loaded my system, power cycled the system OFF and back ON. Then factory reset and setup from scratch using a wired PC and web browser:

Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

WiFi Channels being used on mine is 1 and 40.

oof to answer your questions.
I got a data cabler in to run the conduits and cables through the wall so I may have Cat 6 - just not sure...
My house is huge..... old technicolour gateway modem/router could cover almost nothing hence the ORBI.
I have used a little longer cable on one as I had to exit study, traverse garage, traverse attic, traverse top floor into roof, chase that across the house, down an aircon duct, into another roof and then down the wall and into the home theatre room...... quite a journey involving one knee through the ceiling (thank you to my brother) and a few bruises along with many a lifter tile not to mention the purchase of some quality yellow tongue ...sigh...
I live quite some way out of town so we had no wifi in the bedrooms, or at the TV and the home theatre is separated from the router by a bathroom and a laundry.... Now tv is hardwired all the way back and interestingly you can pick up my wifi in the next street..... love that.
