I have the same exact problem with an RBR850 where the Wan port is stuck at 100/full. I got all the way up through level two tech-support at Netgear until the guy finally decided it must be an intern...

Wow. Did you purchase an extended warranty?
Please post how things work out with the RMA unit. Would you mind describing the tests Level II support went through. i.e.
- swapping cables?
- connecting directly to the modem?
- doing that fun loopback test suggested by plemans in message 10?
- stephenramsdenJul 04, 2024Aspirantlevel one tech had me factory reset the router after backing up the configuration settings and then reinitialize from start up, and restore the configuration settings.
He also asked me to change the DNS servers to some dummy numbers all eights and a couple of fours. And we went from WPA to WPA two/ WPA three security protocols.
The level three tech guy just had me do the router reset without returning the back up configuration settings and just looked at the statistics for the WAN still being stuck at 100 Mb/Full And decided it was an internal hardware problem and nothing else could be done.
The first replacement router I purchased on my own to solve the other problems I was having. This began to happen inside the 90 day hardware warranty for the new router so I was able to exchange it for a small fee. Doesn't seem (to me) like Netgear support did much for you. Changing DNS servers has nothing to do with WAN connection rate at all.
I probably should have asked when the WAN speed dropped from gigabit to 100MFull.
Since it may be a day or so before the replacement router arrives, it might be entertaining to perform the typical troubleshooting steps:
- Pull the WAN cable and examine the RJ45 jacks on both ends for any bent wires. Gigabit connection requires all four pairs of wire to be connected correctly. 100Mbps requires only two pairs.
- Swap the cable for a different cable.
- Connect a computer/laptop directly to the modem in place of the router to see if it connects at gigabit. (This is becoming more difficult as fewer customers own a device that has an Ethernet port.)
- Doing the loopback test between the WAN port and one of the LAN ports.
