Re: RBRE960 LAN PORTS DROPPING
I have been watching this thread as my LAN ports drop randomly. I have an ORBI 960 with three satellites on Verizon FIOS 1G (four devices in total). The Orbi Router connects to the ONT. My setup...

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.
What devices are connected to the LAN ports?
Does this happen with ethernet connected devices connected to the back of the RBS?
Does this happen with out the MOCA adapter in the mix?
Does this happen with all RBS wirelessly connected to the RBR?
Does this happen if all RBS are turned OFF?
How is the one RBS ethernet connected to the RBR, directly to the back of the RBR using the 2.5Gb LAN ports on the RBR and RBS or the 1Gb LAN ports on the RBR and RBS?
CAT6A STP is recommended being used to ethernet connect the one RBS to the RBR if your using the 2.5Gb LAN ports behind the RBR and RBS. There is no CAT6e cabling.
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

What channel configurations are currently set on the router?
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?
Was this happening prior to the v.31 FW update?

Keep in mind the set up has been working just fine until about the time of the firmware update. It could be a coincidence but...
What devices are connected to the LAN ports?
Reply - LAN ports on Router feed 3 satellites for the backhaul.
Lan ports on Satellite 1 are a High end Dell gaming PC, Satellite 2 is a Samsung QN900C 8k tv and Sonos surround
Everything else is using 5G/2.5G
Does this happen with ethernet-connected devices connected to the back of the RBS?
YES, in fact this only happens to the satellites that have ethernet connected to LAN (backhaul connection + other devices)
Does this happen with out the MOCA adapter in the mix?
Reply - Ill check this out later today
Does this happen with all RBS wirelessly connected to the RBR?
No, only the two that have other devices connected via LAN ports
Does this happen if all RBS are turned OFF?
Ill check later today however the main router continues to function wirelessly and the one satellite that has a backhaul connection wired with no other devices has worked fine throughout any event
How is the one RBS ethernet connected to the RBR, directly to the back of the RBR using the 2.5Gb LAN ports on the RBR and RBS or the 1Gb LAN ports on the RBR and RBS?
Satellites (all 3) using the 2.5G port
The router is using 2.5G for one satellite's backhaul and 2 1G ports for the other two backhauls. I will move all three to 1g to see if the mix is an issue - it shouldn't be...
CAT6A STP is recommended for use in the ethernet to connect one RBS to the RBR if you're using the 2.5Gb LAN ports behind the RBR and RBS. There is no CAT6e cabling. My mistake - it's 6A- I also ran a CAT 8 to test the cables, and both the 6a and 8 are working nominally. This run is about 110 ft - 33.5M.
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
5200
What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡Spacing is not an issue - Wireless is not an issue. THe ports stop working on the main router.

https://kb.netgear.com/31029/Where-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite 🛰What channel configurations are currently set on the router?
I can detect no interference on my channels. Neighbors are about a mile away also. - 69 and 40 with 2.5 set to auto
Also - I get my IP and DNS from Verizon, I have not seen any issues in logs, and I really have no other configurations that are not out of the box.
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since the last FW update?
No—is this a requirement? If I were to guess, I would think the ports are starting to fail or the firmware is having an issue with using them.
Was this happening prior to the v.31 FW update?
The complete system ran without restarts or connection/connectivity issues for over six months. Speed checked by ORBI app was just under a Gig down and and up typically checked weekly.
Any help is greatly appreciated

BTW I also turned off the 6 GHZ channel as the ORBI cannot see devices on the 5G or 2.5 G if I am using the 6G connection. In addition, the 6G connection causes about a 30% drop in network connectivity over wireless. I have this disabled and have had 6G disabled for more than the duration of this event.

Yes lets try connecting the RBS to the 1Gb LAN ports behind the RBR.
The Separate 6Ghz SSID network isn't needed unless you have devices that support it and want spectific use of this network for 6ghz. Otherwise, 6Ghz is already being broadcast on the Main WLAN along with 2.4 and 5Ghz already.
Let us know how it goes with out the MOCA adapter connected.
Factory reset would be needed to check this.
You may have one to many RBS for that size of home. I have a 5K sq ft home and only run two RBS ethernet connected at 25% power. Something to consider after you get the system back running solid again.
If the suggestions don't work, I'd probably go ahead and revert back to v.21 version of FW. Been users posting that v.31 hasn't worked well for them. So we can't recommend it. I never loaded it and have kept v.21 on my system as it was better tested and is more stable. If you do revert, RBS first, then RBR lastly. After the FW has been processed, you'll need to factory reset the entire system and setup from scratch. If you have a backup configuration from this version of FW, then load it up and you'd be back up and running in no time.
