For example, 10.0.0.X were giving me problems while something like 10.2.99.X was not. My IT guy is real good, but it was hard to diagnose. In the end, he discovered my Orbi was assigning IPs that overlap IPs I was trying to connect to. This was the solution:
- Log into your home network at http://orbilogin.net/start.htm
- click to the ADVANCED tap
- click through Setup >> LAN Setup
- Now look at your IP Adress and Subnet. My IP Address section was set to something like 10.0.0.1 which conflicted with IPs through my work VPN. We changed it to 192.168.2.1 and resolved the connection problem after a reboot (note you have to change the values, hit Apply button, and your system will reboot and likely kick all your devices off the network until the system is back online.)
I hope this helps save time for someone else. My IT guy thought it was strange the unit shipped with this as the default. I don't know enough about networks to understand what he means, but I see the confusion.
Just got a new Orbi AX4200 Mesh wifi system. I get good speeds with my Orbi AX4200 (RBR750) but my office VPN (external VPN) keeps on dropping. The issue seems to be fixed after rebooting and it reoccurs after a day.
Is there any specific setting needs to be used to work with external VPNs to avoid VPN drop ? Can you please suggest a fix for this ?
