Setting up Orbi RBRE960 satellites using wired backbone through TP-Link router
Hi everyone,
I am having some issues when connecting additional RBRE960 satellites through a switch (Model: TL-SG3428XMP / JetStream 24-Port Gigabit and 4-Port 10GE SFP+ L2+ Managed Switch with 24-Port PoE+).
The setup in my office is a main RBRE960 router with two orbi satellites wired directly into it using CAT6 cables. Then I have introduced a third Orbi satellite that I connect to the RBRE960 main router via the TP-Link switch mentioned above. Again, using CAT6 cables - so all wired.
What I then find is devices (laptops/mobile devices) connecting and disconnecting to the network randomly. If I unplug the 3rd satellite and let it connect via Wi-Fi backbone to the main router, all the devices start working consistently, staying connected with no issues.
Any idea why connecting the 3rd satellite via the TP-Link switch might cause devices to connect/disconnect intermittently? Any settings I can make on the Orbi devices or within the TP-Link switch that might help resolve the issue?
Thanks,
Simon.

Most unmanaged switches are fine. It gets more complicated when you get into the managed ones as they're doing traffic inspection that can cause issues. Not sure on that specific switch but if there's anyway to put the satellite into a dmz or whatever tp-link has setup that automatically passes data without inspection, that might help.

For managed switches, some of mentioned disabling IGMP protocols and Green Ethernet features can help resolve some ethernet back haul issues. Otherwise the following non managed switches i've found works with Orbi systems:
NG GS-105/108v4 and GS308v3, D-Link DGS-105/108 and HP ProCurve 1400 series switches work for Orbi systems. NGs XS505M and GS110MX work great with the 9 series.
