Spotify intermittent drops
Running an Orbi RBR852 with an extra satellite. From time to time Spotify with drop the connection on my TV after installing. I did not have this issue when running my ISPs router (2.4 and 5 disabl...

Would be great if you could break out the 2.4 and 5ghz frequencies if you wanted to or force a device to a specific frequency.
There is already a toggle to turn internet on and off at the device level. Seems like adding a toggle or option for 2.4, 5, or both at a device level should be doable.

Lower power of the radios Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings.
It's mostly up to the TV to pick and choose which freqency the TV connects too. The reason the TV didn't change frequencies on your prior wifi router is probably due to that router didn't support smart connect or use a signle SSID name for both of it's radios, ssids were probably separated.

This is a band steering issue with the Orbi. If I set the TV WiFi to the 2.4 or 5ghz signals on the CenturyLink router the network does not drop, however, when it is set to the Orbi WiFi it drops the signal from 2.4 and will picks back up on 5ghz or vice versa.
Is there a way to shut off band steering at a device level? I understand the device picks the signal but believe naming the 2.4 and 5ghz signals the same in the Orbi is creating an issue.

People been asking for that since Orbi AC. NG doesn't want to give in for unknown reasons. There maybe good reasons as well. Bring another level of problems to the system if that would happen. I do wish they would give the feature to disable the SSID broadcast to Orbi AX like they did with Orbi AC. That really help get users 2.4Ghz devices connected better with the Orbi system.
Glad wire connection worked as it should. Please mark you thread as solved so others will know.
Enjoy.
