Struggeling with new Orbi Set
After a couple of years my good old RBR50 Mesh kit died and I purchased a RBK762 as replacement. So I ended putting up the RBR760 at the same place as the RBR50 and swapped the RBS50 with the RBS760....

Do you have the 750 series or 760 series. These are vary different systems.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.
https://kb.netgear.com/31029/Where-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite 🛰What channel configurations are currently set on the router?
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?- Frank__MDec 11, 2024Aspirant
The RBR is on V6.3.8.5_1.4.80, the satellites on V6.3.8.5
I have no idea about the ISP Modem. It is a FTTH modem outside in a cabinet and I only get a Gigabit Ethernet socket in my home which I plugin to the RBR which then gets a IP via DHCP. Also not sure what difference that makes? Same connection for ever and worked fine with the old Orbi system.
Like I said my house is about 8m x 8m on 2 floors. So, about 690Sq Ft
Distance between:
RBR (livingroom, ground floor) <--> Satellite 2 (kitchen, ground floor): 6m (20Ft)
RBR(livingroom, ground floor) <--> Satellite 1 (Stairwell, upper floor): 8m (26Ft)
RBR(livingroom, ground floor) <--> Satellite 3 (Office, upper floor): 10m (32Ft)
Satellite 1 (Stairwell, upper floor) <--> Satellite 2 (kitchen, ground floor):12m (40Ft)
Satellite 1 (Stairwell, upper floor) <--> Satellite 3 (Office, upper floor): 7m (22Ft)
Satellite 2 (kitchen, ground floor): 6m (20Ft) <--> Satellite 3 (Office, upper floor): 3m (10Ft)
I know that people claim, these are too close to each other, but as I said, I did not get decent connectivity with just the router on the ground floor and the satellite on the top floor. the way it was with the old Orbi system.
I use "Auto" on the 2.4GHz channel, 40 on the 5GHz channel. most of my devices use 5GHz and the backhaul is also at 5GHz.
There is no other wifi in the area. I live quite isolated.
EDIT:// just to make it clear. Sitting in my office connecting to the satellite 3, which backhauls to satellite 2 and then the RBR, I get decent 500mbps on my internet connection. That is not the problem. Of course getting the full 1000mbps would be nice. But I am mostly annoyed about the issue with the SMB share. Which is obviously not a bandwidth problem... since it gives me 6 times more speed over http then over smb.

SMB and AFS may not be fast thru this system.
You might do some isolated testing with the RBS turned OFF and connect directly to the RBR at a distance, say 12 feet and test wirelessly. Then do some direct connect with ethernet cable and test. Then turn on 1 RBS and test connected at the RBS.
Ya some of those distances are too close. Can also try turning down the power on the RBR and see if this changes anything.
