The UniFi Dream Machine is designed to be the heart of a UniFi network, not something added to an exiting WiFi router:

All sorts of UniFi products can be managed by software running on this "Cloud Gateway". It cannot manage a Netgear WiFi router.
My sense is that this effort is doomed. Either commit to a residential WiFi router platform, such as the Netgear, or commit to the UnfiFi platform, but do not attempt to mix them.
