Webex issues with RBR750 setup
I recently purchased an Orbi AX4200 system with the RBR750 router and 2 satellites. I have only had it a few days. I have the router plugged into an ethernet port on my Xfinity router. (Forget wh...

You can put the XB7 in modem only mode and run the orbi in router mode.

If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.

Well...kind of back to square 1. Have made no changes since last night but cant start a meeting this morning or join a meeting via the web ex client. I have Xfinity modem in bridge mode with Orbi in router mode. so far..the only thing that seemed to work (yesterday) was Xfinity modem in router mode and orbi in AP mode.
Frustrating. Unsure what to try next. But right now am thinking that if this will only work consistantly for me with Orbi in AP mode....in which I lose all that functionality....it may not be worth it.

it wouldn't be the first time an ISP device didn't configure bridge mode properly
You can try it with the route FURRYe38 described with both devices in router mode but plugging the IP address for the Orbi into the XB7's dmz. this article is for wifi but basically use the IP address of the orbi to enter into the XB7's dmz.

No love. I have the Cable modem in router mode with the Orbi set up in the dmz. Following instructions from the link. The orbi is also in router mode. Same situation as before: if webex loads at all...it takes 5 minutes.
i was thinking it was the double nat issues...but oddly when i turn off my VPN....it seems to work fine. The webex sites are split tunneld through my Checkpoint VPN client. So I would expect the same behaviour. The problem is...if i go back to pluggind directly into the cable modem.....with the VPN client working it works.
Unsure what to try next. Once again...the help is appreciated.

Ao go back to router mode on the modem and set AP mode on the RBR. Does this configuration work?
- kingsxmanDec 08, 2020Star
Yes. That works. But i guess my feeling is if that is the answer...i dont know that this is a solution i want to keep since I am losing alot of functionality of the Orbi. They're not exactly cheap...

And to confirm, you have a RBR750 or a CBR750?
If it works better in AP mode and not in router mode, this would point to there being a problem between the ISP modem and Orbi router in router mode. Possible the ISP modem isn't working well with the Orbi router in router mode, even if the Modem is bridged or using DMZ.

Correct. RBR. I believe if it was a CBR it would have a coax connection on it....and it does not.
I do agree that its maybe an issue between Orbi and Cable modem. The question is: if i went with another manufacture other than netgear....would i have the same issue? Unfortunatly no way to find out.
Someone mentioned earlier that some modems dont do bridge mode correctly. Could very well be the problem. I can potentially check with Xfinity community also..

Yes, some ISP modesm don't bridge correctly nor when in router mode, there DMZ may or may not work correctly as well. These gateway modems can be problematic at times.
