Reading through the messages again, I am struck by this in the first message. I have firmware v7.2.6.21 on my RBR750 and the APIPA option does not appear. Does this version of firmware have different options for the 850 product than for the 750 product?
There both the same in features in the FW UI.
I went off on this tangent after observing the screen shot showing "Support APIPA" (the first post) and could not find the option on my 750 firmware v7.2.6.21_5.0.20

On the original question, researching an http 400 error is not a trivial topic. My approach would be to fire up Wireshark and capture the conversation between my computer and the Orbi. Because it is http (not encrypted), the request should be readable, although it might not be particularly informative.
For most users, manually reinstalling the current firmware and doing a Factory Reset is probably a more straightforward process.
