    Im running the 970 with a XS508M for about 8 months or so using CAT 5e and see line speeds. I also have it  uplinked to a 100 Gbe QNAP managed switch and everything is smooth

XS505M and GS110MX work great with the 9 series.

CAT6A STP is recommended.

    The TP-Link TL-SX105 works great with the RBE973S also in case you need another option.
