Adding 2nd satellite works for about a day, then 2nd satellite shows as "disconnected"
Mesh works with router & one satellite. Adding 2nd satellite works for about a day, then 2nd satellite shows as "disconnected", and Chromebook cannot connect with "DHCP Lookup Failure" error. Curren...

When you factory reset, it's best to FR both RBR and RBS to ensure getting all units into a clean state.
Sounds like it's working now. Glad you got it working. Please mark your thread as solved so others will know. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

5 days after Factory Reset, the 2nd Satellite is now connected in Daisy-Chain fashion.
In Star configuration, the 2nd was only connected via 5GHz.
In Daisy-Chain, 2nd connects via 5GHz + 6GHz.
So, maybe the trick after updating to latest firmware, is to Factory Reset Satellites, not Router, and wait a week 🙂

Yes, I probably SHOULD factory reset the router too.
Thanks for the suggestions! - FURRYe38Mar 26, 2024Guru - Experienced User

Spoke too soon, satellites reverted to Star configuration, then both disconnected.
Factory reset router and both satellites, Mesh defaulted to Star configuration again.
I'll give it another week, but it looks like I'll have to downgrade to previous firmware. - BobbyWangMar 26, 2024Aspirant
Oh, I did swap the middle and end satellites.
So, the one that was at the end is now in the "middle", but both are connected to the router - StraqMar 26, 2024NETGEAR Expert
Hi There,
Daisy chain should work. Can you please message me privately.
Thanks

OK, finally, got my two RBS in daisy chain configuration. Orbi app and the system needs time to get set up and settled in. Orbi app wasn't immediate to reflect that the RBS were in DC configuration until I thought it wasn't working. After several minutes, finally displayed DC configuration:
So seems like 5-10 minutes maybe need after the RBS is power cycled and reconnected that triggers a Optimation process thats seen on the Orbi app:
I'll leave this running over night and check again in the morning.

Cool!
My network DID go to Daisy-Chain for a little bit, before the satellites disconnected. - FURRYe38Mar 27, 2024Guru - Experienced User
Where did they show disconnected? RBR WEB UI and Orb app?
- BobbyWangMar 27, 2024Aspirant
I could tell they were disconnected because my laptop lost connection, and phone showed only 77 Mb/s.
Orbi app and Web management page both showed 2 satellites, but disconnected.
I'm going to run a Speed Test at the very edge of the house, I'm betting it's a few 100, so, even with only one satellite in the middle, I'm OK. - BobbyWangMar 27, 2024Aspirant
At edge of house, Ookla shows my Xfinity service as 809 Down, 37 Up.
Can't really complain, except when the satellites disconnect, and I drop to 77 - FURRYe38Mar 27, 2024Guru - Experienced User
OK, I'll keep this in mind.
Just connected a iphone to the 2nd RBS down in the basement thats daisy chained and ran a couple of speed tests. Better than expected however over 600Mpbs on the down and under 50Mbps on the UP which I would expect to be a bit more on 50Mbps...speeds working though. I'll check status later tonite and in the morning. - BobbyWangMar 27, 2024Aspirant

Before going to bed last night and waking this morning, RBS are in DC configuration. I'll leave it running this week.

My system still in DC configuration as of this morning.
One item to make sure your doing...when turning ON the system, After the RBR is ON and fully ready, turn on the nearest RBS to the RBR and let it come to ready and give it about 10 minutes to fully sync and settle in. Make sure you see 5+6Ghz for the BH connection between the RBR and RBS on the RBRs web page. Then turn ON the 2nd farther RBS that's in closer to the 1st RBS. Allow it to sync and settle in for about 10 minutes. Check the RBRs web page, both RBS should see 5+6Ghz for the BH connection.
Channels used is manual 11 and 48. 240Mhz is not enabled.

Thanks for the update!
My system is still in Star configuration, but both satellites show 5GHz + 6 GHz.
I actually let the middle satellite run for a day, before adding the far satellite.
It's much better after Factory resetting 971 router, before, I would lose the satellites after 24hrs

But still not in Daisy Chain configuration right?
Can you draw up a diagram and floor layout of your home and mark where the RBR and RBS are located and also include distances in feet from the RBR to RBS to RBS?
- BobbyWangMar 29, 2024Aspirant
Correct, still in Star Configuration.
Let me cobble together a drawing in the next few days 🙂 - BobbyWangMar 29, 2024Aspirant
Here's a rough sketch of the distances
- FURRYe38Mar 29, 2024Guru - Experienced User
Ok thank you for this.
Ya seems kind odd that the farther RBS isn't connecting to the other RBS.Can't get the farther RBS placed even farther away by chance?
Could maybe move the 1st RBS say 2 feet closer to the RBR. Reboot the RBR, power off the 1st RBS for 30 seconds then back ON, give 10 minutes. Then if you can, move the 2nd RBS farther away if possible, then power ON and give it 10 minutes. Check Orbi app...
- BobbyWangMar 29, 2024Aspirant
That's a good suggestion, I can try it this weekend. I can move the 2nd Satellite another 27ft away if needed 😆
