Adding mesh system to Netgear CAX30
Can I add/connect a wifi7 mesh router to my Netgear CAX30 (router modem combo)? I’d like to add a mesh router system to my home without having to buy a new modem. If it can be done, do I need to change any settings on the CAX30 or simply connect the new mesh system to the CAX30 via Ethernet connection?

Yes.
Recommend putting the CAX30 into modem only mode when you go to install a Orbi WiFi7 system:https://kb.netgear.com/27191/How-to-set-the-cable-modem-router-to-be-on-modem-only
They will connect via ethernet cable between them. Recommend using CAT6 cabling.
Yes. It can be done 2 ways. the one above that FURRYe38 mentioned with putting the CAX30 in modem only mode.
What I'd do? And I've done?
leave the CAX30 in router mode and install your mesh system in access point mode. Just make sure the mesh system uses a different ssid and is on different channels from the CAX. that way they don't interfere with each other. Your devices close to the CAX that aren't mobile (think tv's, pc's) can connect to it. The devices that move or are at the peripheral, can connect to the mesh system. That helps load balance and take some burden off either system for better performance. Thats what I do when I'm testing modem/router combo devices.
