Device blocking does not work on 870
I have an 870 system with router firmware V10.5.20.4_1.3.5. Device blocking does not work properly. The only time it worked is when I set a device to be blocked and happen to restart the router. When...

This has nothing to do with the ACL feature working properly. The MAC addresses of the devices I'm blocking have not changed and can not change. Also, even if they were, the feature itself should still work and the router config should be properly updated with the device showing blocked. This is a bug.

Try setting up some IP address reservations for devices you are wanting to control first.
I'll check with my 870 series system thats online today as well on this.

I just tried it. That doesn't change anything. The only thing that works is blocking the devices, then rebooting the router, which applies the changes to the running config. This is a bug. The changes are being saved in the startup config but not the running config. All routers have this concept of startup vs running config. Updating the running config with an ACL change should not require a reboot.
From Cisco, but same principle applies: https://community.cisco.com/t5/switching/difference-between-running-config-and-startup-config/td-p/4923841

I did that last night. They want me to try downgrading to the previous version of the firmware and test again. Currently working from home so can't do that just yet, but will give it a shot and report back.
