What streaming software are you using? Plex?
Can you give us some details on the computer (particularly the wifi speed)?
There is a free utility called NasTester that you can use to benchmark the performance to the PC

Unfortunately, not. I think there are some tools that might work (perhaps BlackMagic Disk Speed Test???).
You could also try downloading a large file to the Mac with Finder, and just time how long it takes.
If you have a fast internet service ( > 100 mbps) then you could also run speedtest.net on the Mac.

In my experience, the issue usually isn't the router. Its something with the setup you're using for it. Thats why details are key.
I agree. This is unlikely to be bandwidth. Both the QNAP and the NAS are more than capable of delivering 4K bitrates - no more than 128 mbps even with UHD Bluray, and usually much less.
RumRootsReggae - Is this happening on all 4K videos, or just some? The problem might be that the streaming engine (or the Mac) is trying to transcode the video.
Can you provide some details on the exact QNAP model, the Mac model, as well as the streaming engine you are using?
