Ensure the CAT cable is STP cabling.
For that size of home, the RBR and just one RBS would be enough. Might turn OFF one of the RBS and test.
Might try channels 1 and 40 on the RBR.
Hoping Armor won't be causing this...
Something to try as well, others have reported the RBR unit getting a bit warmer than usual. Might put a USB fan on top of the RBR unit.
Let us know...

Honestly this has become the biggest POS I have ever bought. $2300 down the drain, really. My internet just stops working on these devices.
I will say this had a Nighthawk and a ASUS mesh systems before which worked just fine, just not enough coverage. Now, lose internet, and only way to get back is to reboot the main router.. it is connected to a Arris Cable modem. no issue until i put this one up. Can't even get a perfect wired back haul until I separated the satellites onto a dumb hub itself.
I have tried:
1. Firmware update
2. Replaced my switches to different switches
3. Added two dumb hubs
4. all my wiring is CAT6 STP...
When internet goes down. no lights on the hubs.
I am sure Netgear will try to blame everything else as reading all these messages appears they will do...
POS is all I can say......

What is the model# of the Arris cable modem?
How was the RBS ethernet connected before the non managed switch?
What brand and model# is this non managed switch you are using now?
What brand and model# are the previous switches you were using?
How are you identifying when the internet is no longer accessible.
Does the front LED on the RBR or RBS turn PINK when this happens?
How many RBS are deployed?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️?Does this happen with the RBS turned OFF?
Does this happen with both wireless and wired devices?
What channel configurations are currently set on the router? Is IPv6 enabled on the RBR?
Be sure to disable any MAC Address randomizers on phones and pads while at home:

What is the model# of the Arris cable modem? SURFboard S33 DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem
How was the RBS ethernet connected before the non managed switch? The switch is a D-Link switch with Energy saving. That has been taken out of the loop and the RBS's have been put on a dumb hub (little 5 port)
What brand and model# is this non managed switch you are using now? D-Link Ethernet Switch, 5 Port Gigabit Unmanaged Metal Desktop Plug and Play Compact (DGS-105),Black
What brand and model# are the previous switches you were using? There are not part of this picture now. removed.
How are you identifying when the internet is no longer accessible. Considering every device no longer has connection to a router. Alexa reports no internet, desktops go to no connection at all. Wi-fi on phones stop working and switch over to LTE..
Does the front LED on the RBR or RBS turn PINK when this happens? None that I have witnessed. RBR is no light I do know this.
How many RBS are deployed? 2 total
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft? 1847sq Ranch. 1650 Finished basement, also covering shed outside of house approx 100 feet away from house, also security cameras around the house.
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s) ? R-> S1 50ft, R-> S2 75ft(Garage)Does this happen with the RBS turned OFF? Dunno, whole reason this was purposed was to extend the total distance of Wi-Fi range
Does this happen with both wireless and wired devices? Yes
What channel configurations are currently set on the router? 1 and 40Is IPv6 enabled on the RBR? NO
Also Router and Satellites firmware is 9.12.3.3

Does the RBS work ok if wirelessly connected to the RBR?
Well for the system supporting 2.5 and 10gb LAN ports, you should or could use some non managed multi gig switches. I use a XS505M and a GS110MX with my 970 series. Both RBS ethernet connected. CAT6A STP cabling. Zero issues here. I'd get into some better speed non managed switches. D-Link is good but may be causing problems. Stick with NG switches at least.
I found a resolution to make Orbi systems work with managed switches recently.
For that size of home though, having an extra RBS could be problematic. Please try with turning both RBS just to see if the problem continues with the RBR alone. Then turn ON one RBS and observe. Try the one in the garage first.

What is the solution you found recently? I do not think you mentioned it.

For RBS ethernet connected to a Managed switch, a VLAN configuration ON the managed switch needs to be setup.
I've checked this with a GS108T and a MS series switches from NG. Seems to correct Guest Network connections at the RBS along with other things.

That sir is an interesting solution. I think many of us are completely frustrated to spend so much money for these new Orbi's, to not only have issue and even Netgear to tell us it's always somebodies' else equipment that causes a problem.
Some of these setups are just normal setup's and there is definitely some holes in the firmware as well. We cant even tell the Satellites to use wired only vs wireless.
I am also read many have changed from a perfectly working solution and changing out the core of the system to Orbi's 971/970 and now it drops internet...very frustrating.
As much as I have worked with netgear, they blame all my other equipment, never theirs. Uggg

Ya been a long standing issue even with older Orbi systems. Managed switches and Orbi didn't mix. Someone did find that disabling IGMP and Green Ethernet features on managed switches got those working. Most of the time I don't recommend managed switches with Orbi systems. Non managed seems to have been the best option and easiest. The VLAN config seems to solve Orbi BE systems. I haven't had a chance to test Orbi AX yet.
Orbi dropping internet can be other factors as well. ISPs and there equipment are a current known thing here for some ISP that are making changes to there infrastructure that's still on going. People blaming Orbi when we need to take a slower look up stream. Also ISP modems and gateways can be a factor as well. Signal on the line up to the ISP modem as well. Why we ask user what they have and everything in between.
Not ruling out FW as well or Orbi HW. Just trying to help narrow down where the issue is really at.
Also been users posting about the RBR not being cooled right and heat being a factor. Someone put a USB fan on top of there's and it stopped the RBR from loosing internet services. I've always kept a fan on top or under ANY router I have online. Been doing this for many years.

All good information. However one of my switches that one of the RBS go through is a
TRENDnet 24-Port Gigabit GREENnet Switch, QoS, it is not managed, but has the Energy saving function. that never seemed to affect anything before.
- FURRYe38Jul 12, 2024Guru - Experienced User
Not all switch can be the same. Maybe some differences. Thought should work, seen some with Green Ethernet features cause problems. Why I tend to stick with NG switches if Orbi systems are online.
- GunthermicJul 12, 2024Star
What about:
Netgear JGS524NA 24-Port 101001000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet Switch
- FURRYe38Jul 12, 2024Guru - Experienced User
That would or should work. I'm currently using one of these for my main home network. However have a separate non managed switch for the RBS and Dish Hopper system that sits behind the RBR. Been using a GS108T and then daisy chained GS308 for my one RBS down in the basement. Other RBS connected directly to the GS108T. Managed switch and VLAN config on the switch.
How about maybe trying a GS105 or GS305 or MS105 series non managed switches and use one of these with both RBS ethernet connected to this switch behind the RBR as a separate segment switch?
- GunthermicJul 12, 2024Star
I do have one of the RBS behind the GS105 currently (did that 3 days ago), took it off the trendnet Switch because of the green Energy BS.
has stopped working, no internet to whole house 3 times since Wednesday! I do not have the Second RBS behind a smal 5-port unmanaged yet.

Does the RBS work ok if wirelessly connected to the RBR?
Can you draw up a diagram topology of how the RBR, switches and RBS are all connected. Please but in brand and model# of switches in uses. Please include ports used on the RBR and RBS.
- GunthermicJul 12, 2024Star
That's always been part of the issue. Even though both RBS's were contented via hardwire, they would float in and out of wireless and wirded mode. Crazy firmware does not allow me to make ti use wired or wireless or both.
- FURRYe38Jul 12, 2024Guru - Experienced User
Well thats the thing, FW is designed to auto change from wired to wireless should wired go down or not be providing good quality or gets into a bad state for ethernet BH. If wireless, RBS should be stable and maintain good operation in wireless as well. If they don't then need troubleshooting here as well as ethernet configuration.
- GunthermicJul 12, 2024Star
All fair statements. However I do go back to my Nighthawks setup with zero issues, just not enough range overall. I di run roughly 50-90 connected devices in my home.
