Orbi 870 - QOS

I have a brand new Orbi 870 system (2 satellites). I don't have a ton of users. I would like to disable QOS, but I find no QOS configuration in the web interface (nor app) menu at all.

In fact, I find the menu to be super simplistic. Is there a way to turn on "advanced mode" or something and get more control over the feature set? Better yet, get a command prompt on the router?

Thanks.

  • Orbi systems QoS is all automatic. No user configurations are available and can't be disabled.

Thanks for the reply, I suspected as much but appreciate the confirmation.

I would just like to register my general displeasure at Netgear's product management decisions that take away control of these kinds of features from the consumer though. Grr. I don't want every decision made on my behalf. Maybe make the defaults easy for the majority consumer but leave menus and controls available for those who want them?

Anyone know of a way to expand the feature set controllable by the user? Get to a Linux prompt maybe?

I was a longtime DD-WRT user on previous routers, but finally got tired of the "always in beta". But a happy medium would be nice.

      Thanks again.

NG has been moving away from the more granular menus and advanced features on there systems. Been like this for past several years seems like on newer generation products. It is what it is.

Nothing can be change or done from a low level since NG removed the telnet features as well on there router systems. Was deemed a security risk.

You'll need to check with 3rd party FW sites to see what they support on NG systems.
