Orbi 970 - Wireless 6e, 7 menu question
I am in the US, and have the new Orbi 970 system. Using Orbi web interface, firmware V9.10.0.2_1.1.5, does anyone know how to "turn on" wifi 6e and/or wifi 7 on the mesh system? When I go into the ...

Actually the Orbi 960 has the 6ghz band disabled by default. You need to access the web admin to turn on the 6ghz. I had to do that for mine.
Actually, the 6GHz band on the Orbi 960 is ENABLED by default - and uses the same SSID as the 2.4GHz and 5GHz band.
What you see the "enable" for on the WebUI is for a separate 6GHz SSID to be broadcast. Although it is not a separate network (in other words, it is not segregated from the main network) - it is a separate SSID.
It has been that way since day one of the Orbi 960 seires.

While I am sure you are correct, my current issue I am having is that in the UI for the orbi 970 is that 6 hertz isn't mentioned in any way shape or form on any menu within the UI, in fact it seems like they went out of their way to remove any mention of it. there is no notes, no options, no toggle, nothing. This is the reason I reached out to Netgear with a screenshot and they were like wow thats really weird, but basically said its on by default. I basically went back and told them (the above), which is it we all agree it "should" say something so they need fix it.

So actually I quoted the other poster in my response about the 6GHz on the 960, but I will address your question/issue.
You will find information about the 6GHz band in the Statistics Page as well as in the Advance Tab - Wireless Settings (General) box.
The Statistics page can be reached by going to 192.168.1.1/RST_statistics.htm (or whatever your router IP is)... on this page it will provide you information as to the different ports and wireless bands - including 6GHz. (You can also get to this from the Advanced Tab, Internet Box, press Show Statistics)
The Wireless Settings (General) box in the Advanced Tab will tell you the channels in use by all of the WiFi bands, including the 6GHz band.
If you look at the other Wireless Settings pages - where you see information about the 2.4GHz and the 5GHz bands, you will notice that you have options there (like channel selection or preamble size). 6GHz options are not present most likely because we have no options at the present time for them - they are hardcoded and not changeable. That may change at a later date, but for now, we are stuck with what Netgear is assigning.
I do agree that it is confusing to have nothing displayed in those locations - if I had designed it, I would have at least shown what is being defaulted to and made it unchangeable.

Yes, you are correct here and that right there is the problem. How can the Orbi 960 give you more control over you're 6Ghz channels and wireless network than the newer 970. The options and control you get in the 970 is far less than you get in the 960. Pretty crazy when one costs $1,500 (US) and the other $2,300 (US) but, then again this could be something with Wi-Fi 7 maybe? I'm not sure.

The Separate 6Ghz SSID on the 960 was put in so that user could ensure there 6Ghz devices could connect to a 6Ghz signal. Even though 6Ghz was already on the main, there was a chance of a 6Ghz device not fully connecting to 6Ghz on the mains and falling to 5Ghz. This was in early days of 6Ghz new tech so NG put in something to help ensure devices would connect to a 6Ghz signal all the time.
Orbi 7 is new tech so new stuff and things may not be the same between the 9 series models. I would not expect them to be specially. Maybe some in general.
