Orbi 970 Dropping Devices Randomly
As a background. I had a Orbi 960 mesh system before upgrading to the 970. It was rock solid with no issues. I changed nothing when setting up the 970. Even the SSID and wifi passwords were the same, router and sats in the same spots, same switch, ethernet backhaul, etc..
The setup: is the Satellites are connected to the router through ethernet backhaul through a unmanaged 2.5 gig Netgear switch. Using Xfinity gig speed internet.
The issue: Dropped connections to wifi devices. For example, I would be watching tv on different Roku devices and all the sudden the connection would drop and then would take a min or two for it to reconnect. While the disconnect was happening I would go to a different Roku and the tv was working fine. It has happened on all my 6 Rokus. Device connections never happen more than one on device at a time. Totally random. The second issue is when I would be on a Zoom call and then I would get the “Your network connection is unstable” then the video call would drop. This has happened almost every time when on hour long Zoom calls. This has nothing to do with how close devices are to the router and satellite. Some are 6 feet away, others are 10 feet away.
BTW Landpet YouTuber noticed the exact same issues when doing his review of the 970.
Needless to say, I cannot have a wifi network doing this so I had to return the 970. Note, once I reconnected my Orbi 960, everything is working perfectly again. I will look at upgrading to the 970 again once they fixed this device drop issue.

Next time, let us try some troubleshooting and get some system information from you.
There is some beta available that fixes a few things.
Good Luck.

Sorry I have no time to spend troubleshooting a system. Too busy. Once they fix the issue though some more firmware updates, I will try again.
