Orbi doesn't see an internet connection when connected to 2.5gbps port on modem
I have a new internet provider (EzFiber) and they have installed a Nokia modem and my plan supports 2.5 Gbps and their technician validated that I am getting 2.5 Gbps on the modem. I have connected m...

The modem was changed yesterday because of some ISP issue. There were setting on the old modem containing my Orbi's MAC and IP Address that were causing a conflict with my replaced modem (New Profile) that were resulting Orbi not getting an IP Address. 2nd level support cleared the old modem's profile from the system and everything is working as expected. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

Show Statistics indicates the WAN port is connected at 1000M/Full, which is correct because it is connected to the eero gigabit port. Was interested to see what it reports when connected to the modem 2.5G port.
Yes, any old Ethernet switch. If placed between the WAN port and the modem, this will force the Orbi WAN port to connect at one gigabit to the modem. If there is some incompatibility between the modem 2.5G and the Orbi 10G ports, this would force both of them to one gigabit. If the Orbi still has "no internet" when connected that way..... oh, my.

I will buy an ethernet switch and will get back ASAP. I guess having gigabit switch will limit Orbi to 1 Gbps again and same as replicating my Eero 6E setup. Should I buy 10 Gigabit switch and do the Nokia <-> Switch <--> Orbi? I will also report on Stats by connecting Nokia to Orbi...Thanks

A lot of people already have gigabit switches. On Amazon, a TP-Link 8-port gigabit switch is under $20.
10G switches are a LOT more expensive.
With the fiber modem supplying 2.5G, I would opt for a less expensive 2.5G switch.
I am assuming that this Orbi 970 is well past the 90 days of 'complimentary support', and thus not long eligible to open a case with Netgear support?
Would be interesting to see how the router describes a direct connection to the modem. (should be 2500M/Full)

I tried Orbi directly to Nokia modem and it is not getting any IP Address as shown in the following images. Went back to Nokia --> Eero 6E 1 Gbps --> Orbi and it is getting IP Address and connects fine to the internet.
Statistics:
Went back to Nokia --> Eero 6E 1 Gbps --> Orbi

Strange that Show Statistics reports the connection rate as 1000M/Full. and the "up time" as 6 hours, 26 miinutes
I would be more comfortable if
- Both modem and Orbi are powered off.
- Cable connected from modem to Orbi
- Modem powered up.
- Orbi powered up.
- Observe the router LED
- When the LED turns magenta or off, connect to the web interface, Advanced Tab home page and record the same information (Internet port, Show Stastics)

Did you set up the VLAN configuration for your ISP that maybe needed on the Orbi RBR first?
Also did you power OFF the ONT for 1 minute along with the RBR after it was configured for VLAN for the ISP, then turn one the ONT and RBR? You might contact the ISP and ask for there help in getting the RBR configured correctly to connect to the ISPs ONT. There maybe special configurations needed that they can help you with.

I followed the procedure as you mentioned and here are the screen shots:

There are no specific steps related to VLAN configuration for your ISP for Orbi but I will call Ezee Fiber and update...Thanks

Might also give a non managed switch a try as well. NETGEARs MS105 is a 2.5Gb supporting non managed switch.
Hoping that the ISP can clear this up though.Keep us posted.

Tried switch but no luck. ISP sees the MAC Address of my Orbi and also sees that they are not able to assign it an IP Address. They will get back to me by EOD today. Hopefully something will change

K, seems like this is some odd ISP handling issue. Hoping they can help figure it out.

Figured it was something on the ISP side. Glad they found it and fixed it.
Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.
