Orbi MESH systems are different from stand alone non MESH routers. Due to the complexity of the MESH systems, NG is trying to keep the features and system as easy for users as possible with the features they deem configurable for users like the IoT and Guest Network. Older Orbi systems originally there was no IoT network and with Smart Connect enabled, users had many issues with 2.4Ghz only IoT devices due to bad design and implementation on the IoT Mfr behalf. So NG implemented there own solution to help IoT users get IoT devices connected to Orbi MESH systems. Introduced in v7 FW for the 750, 850 and 960 series systems. Now also seen in Orbi BE series systems as well. Older legacy Orbi systems will not be seeing this feature as those have entered into EoL status.
