Verizon fiios and Orbi 970 experience

Question

I have been working on a project to use a pfSense equipped appliance as a robust router behind a Verizon Gxxx router (bridged) with an Orbi RBE970 in AP mode delivering WIFI services.
Has anyone had experience doing this? I have seen what appears to be compatibility issues and would like to collaborate on specific configurations and best practices.

Hi Chuck,In early December, I switched to the OPNsense firewall and router, using AP 971 and 970. The limited QoS settings and noticeable buffer lag during conference calls prompted this change. I'm still fine-tuning the setup, but feel free to DM me anytime.Edit.. using Comcast gateway in bridge

My God, yes.&nbsp; It is night and day.&nbsp; I can show different type of test results... probably one of the most easy to describe is bufferbloat went from a C+ to an A+ immediately with the traffic shaping option in pfSense.&nbsp;I use some reverse proxy stuff (HAProxy) which is also facilitated under pfSense.&nbsp; It also is very surprising to see how many attacks a home network comes under each day -- that you just dont get an appreciation for using normal routers &amp; router managment software.&nbsp; &nbsp;I look at pfSense as going to the big league.&nbsp; &nbsp; Night and day amounts of control, awareness , defense and reporting.&nbsp;Just my opinion.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;If you decide to do this, I can literally help you get up and running with pfSense and Orbi in 5&nbsp; minutes.&nbsp; PiHole integration takes just a little longer.&nbsp; &nbsp; It's good stuff!

I've debated on setting up a pfsense setup but have only went so far as a pihole that I occasionally set to manage dhcp. To many times I'm testing systems and need the system managing everything.&nbsp;
